I was thinking that I booked a room in Lucky Money Hotel, but instead we were told at the hotel that I was actually booked in to Lucky Monkey Midi, which is way different from what I intended to book and clearly, I feel cheated.
I was looking at sites offering room at Lucky Monkey and hade no idea that 3km outwards from lucky Monkey (and the city centre), in a less desirable area, there is another hotel called Lucky Money Midi.
Our flight was almost 3h late, our car rental "meet ang greet" turned out to be a "wait and find me", so we pulled up in front of Lucky Money Hotel with the kids around midnight and was told to get back to the car and drive to Lucky Monkey Midi, which doesn't the slightest resemble to Lucky Monkey. I have to add that we were very tired and terrified from the traffic in Antalya - you might want to look this up before renting a car - so getting back to the car with all the luggage felt like a lot of effort at the time.
Arriving to Lucky Monkey Midi, before a greeting, were were told to pay the our bill right then and there. After that we were showed to our room. It was a "non smoking" room in theory, but right next to the "no smoking sign" there was an ashtray, but you didn't ned to see the ashtray to know that it wasn't a non-smoking room. Everything smelt smoky inside.
The staff was polite and the next day , the lady who looked after reception was rather funny too. We didn't had much interaction as we only stayed 2 nights - and this was the only Lucky thing I can say about the Hotel.
I would like to add that in the "Hotel" - rather like a Motel really - close proximity there was a mosque with a minaret, which we soon found out about and there was a school too, both of which hade a heavy use of loudspeakers.
So all in all , I think I was generous to give 2 stars to the Hotel, I only gave it this , as it is obvious to me now, after visiting 4 other hotels in the Antalya region, that Hotels in this are are measured differently with the international Hotels we a re used to in Europe.
If you want a decent middle comfort hotel in Antalya, then look at only the 5 stars Hotels and do your research. Cross-check pictures, location, reviews. I noticed - only now - that Lucky Monkey Midi has some computer generated pictures mixed with real pictures on Google Map showing food which is nowhere to be seen in side the premises.
They must have been form another era, I am not sure, but the vibe of the pictures is totally different from...
Read moreI stayed at the Lucky Monkey for six nights in January 24 while having some dental work nearby. The hotel is reasonably modern but is looking like it needs a little refreshing. The staff were ok, I didn't find them particularly helpful nor unhelpful. If I approached them they would speak/help with me but they didn't interact with me without me initiating the chat.|Food in the restaurant was ok but I did tend to eat out. My booking included breakfast which was a Turkish breakfast of which 70% I didn't like. I was not offered an alternative.|My room was a standard room which while was a little small it was sufficient for me alone, it was tidy and clean, had a safe, fridge and good wifi. The bed was comfy and bathroom meet my needs. |My two concerns with hotel and the reason I have rated it as average was firstly the pool location. I booked this hotel as it had an indoor pol and as I was traveling in January thought an indoor pool would be convenient in case of poor weather. The weather was poor but I found the pool ..awkward, to use. You have to walk through the main restaurant to get to the pool so would be a touch uncomfortable if the restaurant was busy and imagine if you were eating and kids were screaming while playing in the pool this would be distracting. As a result in my six nights I used the pool three times and I never saw another person in it while I was there.|The other issue and I am sure this is out of the hotels control was the local stray dogs. I was woken most nights by dogs barking! The dogs are plentiful in Antalya and seem to be tagged so I am sure are monitored but they still have their bark, and they like to use it at night! |The hotel location was good, I walked into the old town from there, great views and a nice outside area for eating and drinking. I possibly would try another hotel when I go back however if there was not a great choice I would use the Lucky...
Read moreOnly getting 2 starts because of location and view. We reserved ocean view balcony king suite. After spending a week in Istanbul and cappadocia we can confidently say this hotel was unkempt and offered the worst service we’ve experienced in Turkey. When we arrived our room was dirty, including stained lines, hair/food scraps on the floor, dirty bathroom/toilet. I called the reception multiple times and there was no answer. I then walked downstairs to explain the situation and the rude attendant told me she would send someone. The cleaning woman came by rather quickly but clearly annoyed, demonstrating an attitude, wearing dirty and see through clothes. She then smeared a dirty cloth on the ground while we were still there, said “done” and left. The toilet was filthy, there were ZERO towels in the room, no shampoo or conditioner but we didn’t bother to deal with those people again and waited until evening staff arrived to request towels and went to the grocery store for toiletries. When we tried to go to the beach club, the front desk lady told us that they were “busy” and that if we wanted to go to the beach club, we have to make a reservation for the next morning. Nevertheless, we walked down and found available loungers. The food and drinks were the most expensive we saw in Turkey, quality was poor at best. The staff there were equally as rude and dismissive, continuously asking for more orders when our drinks were not even half empty. No towels were available because they “ran out”. The hotel lobby also smelled like a pool after running out of chlorine (the pool is oddly indoors at the back of lobby), not inviting. One night we arrived and the elevator was covered in vomit. The only plus is that the hotel is in front of the sea in a room had a nice view, the AC also worked well, which was necessary for a hot summer day. Would NOT recommend, particularly...
