My wife and I arrived at the hotel in the evening. The clerk was very cold to us from the beginning, not exchanging pleasantries or even explaining the basics to us. We had made a reservation for three nights on booking.com. He took down our passport information, and then demanded all of the money upfront, in cash. We politely explained that we couldn't do that because my wife just had an operation, and we needed to see the room and be sure that it was warm and comfortable for her. Also we didn't have enough cash at that hour to pay the full three nights, but we could pay for one night and obtain the rest of the cash in the morning. At this the clerk became furious. He declared that we would not be allowed to stay in his hotel, and ordered us out as if we were dogs! Then he began to make personal insults as we left (in broken English and Turkish), calling me 'stupid'. He had the look of a junky or a rabid dog, and i am certain that he wished to fight me. I have stayed in all types of accommodations in thirty countries, and no one has ever been so thoroughly out of line and disrespectful to me. This hotel has some deeply psychologically disturbed personnel. A bona fide...
Read moreI stayed for 2 nights in the Sari Konak Hostel which is not far from the old city square. The bed was comfortable and I don't know why, but I slept very well there. I loved the room, it is simple and I loved the wood smell. The owner and his family are very welcoming, friendly and supportive. The breakfast is delicious, a typical Turkish breakfast with cheese, tomatoes and cucumber...youcan take in the hostel's garden.||The wifi was also very good, I even watched videos from my phone without any problem, I did not skype but I am sure the quality would be good.||The only inconvenient is that there is only one bathroom in the ground floor as this is an old type of houses , but if you are a backpaker and you will spend lots of time in outdoors, I don't think this would...
Read moreTypical old Turkish house, very careful kept in order and impeccable cleanliness (just a clue: you have to leave your shoes downstairs, at the entrance, like everyone does). The rooms are modest furnished in a rustic style, but with good quality things, mostly natural and simple materials (line, cotton, wood). We slept on the most comfortable mattress we ever tried. ||A little noisy in the morning, whet the other guests started to move and talk. ||Breakfast is not a feast, yet it is eatable - fresh and tasty. ||The owner is a young man, friendly and decent English speaker. He offers a wide variety of trips in the...
