I arrived at 1am and had booked an airport pickup (it took over 2 weeks and a few calls to receive a confirmation via email). ||The airport pick up - a lovely and welcoming guy, wasn't there (but explained that the police had harassed him, which was the case going back to the hotel too). I got checked in at around 3am, and was put in a room in the basement. Newly built room, paint still fresh. So fresh that it was almost impossible to breath, the furniture was dusty and dirty, and was not sure about the bedding. I went to sleep and at 6am the noise started. A lot of noise, as the basement is by a storage room, with a working site by the balcony, and close to the breakfast room and reception. I couldnt sleep and went to have breakfast (which goes from 6.30 to 10). It was 9.30 and there was nothing left for me to eat, so they had to do everything from scratch, which they were kind to do. I then went to shower and there was no hot water (which is often the case in hotels in the continent, but not when the room comes for over 60 USD). I asked at reception if they could move me somewhere else and i was told the hotel was fully booked, which didn't seem the case to me. ||Anyhow- positive was the staff (very friendly and welcoming), the delicious and affordable food, and the friendliness of both drivers, but the hotel itself was nothing to write home about: poor service, very bad internet, cold water, very noisy, the TV in the bedroom was mounted on the side and not on the wall in front of the bed, and my room was not clean (well, it wasn't finished). Also, there was no additional blanket and one of the evenings got a bit colder.||Hopefully it will get there. I have stayed at many, many hotels before but never complained. I hope this is to encourage...
Read moreThe Grand Global Hotel is a work in progress, as evidenced by the multiple construction projects. It is steadily being upgraded. The rooms and common areas were always clean and tidy. The property is overall well maintained. Our room was very spacious and comfortable for two. It had a small refrigerator, dinette table and chairs, two sofas and a very comfortable bed. The mosquito nets were in excellent condition (and this is very important). The water was always hot when I needed hot water for a shower. The staff, at every level, were always professional, polite, friendly and helpful. The property is very well secured with a top-notch security team ever present. The Buffet always had a variety of options from which to chose. The only reason I did not give the 5 stars is because of the construction noises that began early in the morning, every morning. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to family, friends or professionals needing a moderately priced...
Read moreStay away from this place at any cost. I booked their most expensive room, 400,000/ room and explained that I don’t intent to stay, just wanted my friends to come see me as I was in town. They agreed and charged me an extra $250,000 for food for 6. Every was going ok until I got a knock on the door and I was asked to leave. The reason they gave was that we had more people than planned. Remember they served food for 6 but now they only want 2 people. I asked to speak to the manager but there was none, the front desk did it not have MTN airtime to call the manager so we had to use our phone to call and he still did not pickup. The director called in and told us to wait for an answer, next thing we know was 5 uninformed men with guns and knives at the door. I did not hesitate so my friends and I left to save our lives. We all run out bare feet at midnight. The manager Jane was not helpful either. Please stay away because this place does not know how to...
