Kabira Country Club (Kampala) |What & Where||Kabira Country Club is a hotel / club complex located on Old Kira Road, Bukoto in Kampala. |It’s part of the Speke Group of Hotels and offers accommodation, dining, leisure, and event facilities. ||The site includes:| • The Pub – Bar & Restaurant, a multi-cuisine venue overlooking the pool and courtyard. | • Bake.O.Logy, a cafe & bakery offering pastries and lighter fare. | • Rooms ranging from studios, suites, cottages, and penthouses. | • Leisure amenities: swimming pools, gym, spa / wellness, event and meeting venues. ||What Works Well| 1. Facilities & Amenities|Guests frequently praise the pools, gym, and general leisure infrastructure. |The dining venues are varied: The Pub offers continental, African, and Indian cuisine and a buffet & à la carte. |The bakery is also a highlight, especially for light meals, snacks, or coffee. | 2. Location & Ambience|It is relatively close to Kampala’s center yet in Bukoto / Old Kira Road, which gives a balance between access and a quieter, green environment. |The dining area in The Pub is designed to feel intimate and pleasant, with mood lighting, proximity to the pool and outdoor space. | 3. Staff & Service (Positive Aspects)|Many reviews mention friendly and helpful staff. |Cleanliness and room maintenance in many reviews are cited positively. ||Weaknesses & Common Complaints| 1. Value for Money & Pricing|Some guests feel the hotel is “underwhelming and expensive,” i.e. paying more than what is delivered. |Value is cited as a weaker item in certain guest reviews, even if overall the hotel is rated “very good” on many platforms. | 2. Noise & Disturbance|A recurring issue is noise, especially from the restaurant / bar or construction in adjacent areas. In some reviews, noise makes rest difficult. |Also, in one review, it was noted that the restaurant was dark and had poor acoustics. | 3. Service & Consistency|Some guests report slow service, staff being undertrained, or inconsistencies in room amenities (e.g. AC, WiFi, plumbing). |In one more negative review, a guest complained of double booking / refusal of refund after flight delays. | 4. Room Comfort / Infrastructure Issues|In some rooms, ventilation or maintenance issues are raised (old AC units, bathrooms in less good condition). |Internet / WiFi is another area of complaint. Some guests mention “very bad internet.” ||Verdict & Tips||Overall, Kabira Country Club is a solid mid-to-upper tier option in Kampala: it offers good facilities, a pleasant setting, and varied dining — but with some caveats in consistency, noise, and value. Many guests have good stays; others feel their expectations weren’t fully met.||If you plan to stay or visit, here are some tips:| • Ask for a quiet room away from the restaurant / bar or areas of noise.| • Test or confirm WiFi strength in your room before settling.| • If possible, visit during low crowd periods for better service.| • Use the dining venues (Pub, bakery) rather than expecting fine dining — the strength is more in variety & ambiance than in haute cuisine.| • Be cautious around bookings, refunds, and check-in timing to avoid issues in...

Arrived around August 23rd and stayed a week. I was in room 327.

Check in: it was was kinda strange. The room I was taken to at first didn’t have a working air conditioner and no bottled water in the refrigerator. I didn’t think too much of it but receptionist insisted on taking me to a different room. I followed him to a couple rooms over. It had everything. Pretty nice room overall.

WiFi: garbage from day one. It was so bad that I contemplated asking for a refund and just leave.

It worked decent in the downstairs lobby but that’s really it. It was simply not working in my room. The night I arrived I was told by the receptionist that “it would be fixed at 8am”. It wasn’t. I asked a different receptionist that was on duty and he said, it was going be working at 12pm”. It wasn’t. I asked a different receptionist and she said, “it will work sometime tomorrow”. It didn’t. It became apparent these 3 different receptionists just kept passing the buck off until their shift was finished OR they’d each give bogus info so I’d go away. The Wifi never worked properly from my room.

Breakfast: The menu listed bacon, ham and sausage. The didn’t have bacon or ham for the first two days I was there. The egg white omelets and scrambled eggs were good but they only have mozzarella cheese for the omelets. No american or cheddar. On the 3rd day they had bacon. But it was really just undercooked bacon fat. No actual red bacon meat. Overall the breakfast was good though.

Dinner: If you are a fan of Indian food you're in luck. I am guessing they had actual Indian people cooking it because it was really good. Everything on the dinner menu was pretty pricey though. There is a hotel cat (stray?) that walks around the restaurant. I fed and pet it quite a few times.

Gym: Everything you want in a gym was there. Free weights, machine weights, cardio machines and had some CrossFit stuff also. The boxing heavy bag was nice but no boxing gloves present.

Room: The room was very nice and the refrigerator worked very well. The complimentary coffee each day was nice also. The shower took a really long time to produce hot water in the afternoon but overall if worked just fine.

Construction work outside the room: These guys were only 15 feet outside my room sledge hammering concrete and rebar from 7am to midnight each day. This hotel was no where near max capacity. So it puzzled me as to why they didn’t give me a room on the other side...

Hello its your favorite local guide/critic I’ve stayed at kabira club for 1 week with my husband and it was a roller coaster to say the least it was both a good and a bad experience

First lets talk about the welcoming: it was good the receptionist was an expert at her job but the manager was a tad rude ( a manager should smile at all the guests not a portion of them)

Second the rooms we got our first room and it was nice the bed was really soft and comfortable but the AC was not working at all and we were sweating… we notified the reception and they gladly gave us another room with a view to the pool…. The ups were the view and the AC WAS WORKING like it should but the downside was the bed…i felt like i was sleeping on a rock and i could not sleep well… I notified the receptionist and she told me she will do her best to find another room until the manager came and told me that all the rooms are like this and i said nothing.

The service was great nice staff they clean up well

The rooms are clean i read some reviews that say the rooms are outdated but i did not see that they were good and the kitchen has everything you need

The breakfast is the same every day but it is delicious

The food was good especially the indian food

The pool is nice but the service at the pool was very poor you need to beg for a mattress and some water… rented some goggles that dont work for 5 minutes and they charged me 10.000

Overall its a nice hotel that needs a better management and some nice mattresses other than that it was a nice stay

Price per 2 persons...
