I was put in a small room next to the fitness room on the ground floor. It was barely possible to get into the cupboard, and the shower was too low for a hair wash without crouching - and I am not tall. But the problem was the incredible noise from first of all the resturant / bar every night, then the people gathering outside my room on the grass outside one night - when I asked the receptionist to ask them to keep their vocies down as I was working, and then later trying to sleep, she was very reluctant too. And if she did, they did not listen. The fitness room next to me was an adjoining room, so I could hear every step on the treadmill, every drop of the weights - which sometimes took place at 10pm at night. But the real problem for me was the lack of interest from staff to help me a) move to a quieter room, as requested or b) ask people to be considerate of the other guests. Also, the internet was not always working, which made being here on a business trip problematic. I will not...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE. Horrible experience. I think all these reviews must be fake… I booked online and then when I arrived they refused to honour my booking. Staff initially pretended it was not a hotel, then eventually said it was a hotel but that I could not stay because I am not Chinese (like the owner and all other guests). Eventually I bargained to be able to stay, but they said I could not eat any of the food, and they would not recognise my (prepaid) booking and said I needed to pay cash. (I suspect the hotel which I booked at has been sold to new owners, who did not receive any booking from me.)
The room was in a tired, dirty condition. Overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke and air freshener. People up all night and day outside playing loud music and drinking. I was generally made to feel very uncomfortable and was the only non-Chinese guest. I left after 1 night and just paid what I owed. DO NOT COME HERE unless you...
Read moreI am sorry for some bad experiences for others. Mine, on staying maybe 4-5 times in year, was quite good. Very affordable by expat standards, clean, decent restaurant (although the comment that the breakfast is not outstanding is true). Staff that cares and aims to please, and remembers you, which I find charming. ||||The AC is good, the internet can be quirky. Within walking distance (2km or so) are a major shopping mall, a fine wine store, good coffee, several restaurants. A small duuka (convenience store) is close, down the road across from Valerie Imperial Villas. ||||I will return in early January 2015 and may offer an...
