Fuego Hotel, located conveniently at the suburban Muyenga Tank Hill side is a conversion of a residential double floor building, recently changed ownership - but still Eritrean at heart. Pleasant Café area, half garden half shed like built around the trees on the premises. Quite comfortable. Food is quite unique and mostly well prepared. That, apparently is absolutely down to the respective shift chef. Eritrean food is well balanced in a certain and flavour, occasionally a little heavy on the salt, again depends on the chef, but shouldn't really. Distinct lack of consistency when otherwise quite capable to score above average. Service is extremely friendly, albeit slow and uncoordinated at times.|One recommendation would be their Club sandwich, reasonable priced and more importantly, one of the very few places in Kampala actually able to do a proper club sandwich, without having to argue what goes in there and that factory processed sausage has no business in it. That one, for taste, composition and presentation - very good. The coffee is above average, mainly due to the care of their Barista, who's also the most attentive waitress. At times with fluctuating aroma, but that probably due to inconsistency of the supplies. However, they aren't shy to change their supplier and do value and actively seek customer input. A very welcoming place still under development with recent kitchen extension. Standby to read what is coming out of that one. Overall 7 of 10....

The manager is on top of things to ensure your needs are met. There are several nearby restaurants and shops but we were happy to eat at here most of the time. The Cafe has a nice variety of well-prepared food that is safe for Mzungu. We enjoyed the salads and iced drinks without problem. We had to leave early in the morning and the staff made sure that we were able to have breakfast before we set off. A bigger hotel sign to help Uber drivers find it is my only suggestion for improvement. I will definitely...
Read moreVery briefly, this hotel has everything you need and what you get is really nice compared to ugandan standars for that same price (must be noted that I also like Ugandan standards!). The owner is Eritrean and maybe this is what makes it so cozy. ||The single room is small but new and with a big bathroom. The window is very small though.||However, staying in the room makes no sense having a wonderful terrace (beautifuly decorated with wood and nice lighting as well as plants) and cafe-style sitting area with sofas. This is the restaurant area, which has also Wi-Fi||The cook, at least the night I stayed here is very very good. ||The best of all: the service. Friendly...
