Cooktoria Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Kampala

Sadly this place isn't good. The place is ok in terms of atmosphere. But the food is not good. Firstly was told no juice so the whole juice menu was off, this was lunchtime, they eventually managed to make one juice. Ordered food, enchiladas was mostly empty, just cheese on top and alittle meat inside mostly hollow. The sides for the enchiladas was extremely tiny, and if you compare them to the other meal which had decent sized sides although even then chips was a little small. But the extremely small sides for the enchiladas which I have seen bigger portion sizes for kids meals, made the meal not worth the money and I left the place hungry and disappointed. Also the other meal was supposed to have guacamole instead a few slices of avocado. The whole experience was bad. Please close down and let other mexican restaurants...

Just came for the first time. It’s is only their third day in their new location so they didn’t even have a sign yet. I’m very picky with Mexican food as I live in Southern California and travel frequently to Mexico. I can’t believe this is Uganda. I was very hesitant as I don’t even get Mexican food in other parts of the US. The food was fresh and delicious. Not that I’ve had Mexican in Africa before but I’m certain it is the best in East Africa. Not much atmosphere as they are just setting up but the food makes it all worth it! We will definitely be back! Parking is only on the street. The owner Pius and his wife Judith are very accommodating...

Generally speaking, when you're looking for decent mexican food outside of Mexico or the southern US you're out of luck. Cooktoria is one of the rare places that actually delivers. Burritos, chimichangas, even the taco salad are all excellent. The food is well seasoned, the service is prompt, and the prices are good. This is my go-to restaurant when I'm missing home. Will be visiting over...
