To be quite honest, I had a hard time writing this review. We stayed for three nights, i.e. 29 to 31 March 2022. While this hotel is not terrible, it is well below the standard of hotel that I usually select. I chose this hotel since the Hatta Fort Hotel, across the road, was way more expensive and the Hatta Guest House seemed OK from the reviews that I read online. Although the hotel was quite adequate, it was not exceptional by any means. The hotel is located in a shopping center that is mainly empty. The parking area for the hotel is outside the shopping center and there is lots of rubbish lying around and the area is under construction. Right from the moment we checked in I knew that I should have selected the Hatta Fort Hotel across the road, despite the higher cost. There is no pool at the Hatta Guest House and the service is relatively poor. This is not the kind of accommodation that I usually select and I was disappointed in myself that I did not follow through on lessons that I have learned in the past about choosing suitable hotels. The hotel has a decent view over towards the Hajar Mountains, across a lovely lake, towards the Hatta sign on the hill. The rooms are quite adequate and comfortable though my room had a reasonably strong smell of oud. The chairs / bench in the rooms are very uncomfortable and are not conducive to a relaxing evening around the table that is provided. Also, the rooms do not have a nice outside sitting area / balcony. To be fair, the bed is very comfortable and the bathroom / shower is quite acceptable. The restaurant for breakfast and dinner is in the same shopping center as the hotel. The breakfast consists mainly of an Arabic selection of food, unlike anything that I am used to. The dinner selection was good, and we received a voucher for AED 50 per person for the two nights that we ate at the restaurant on site. The food was excellent at the onsite restaurant and the Egyptian owner (?) needs to be commended for his efforts. After our first night we headed into the mountain for some sight-seeing. Unfortunately, upon our return to the hotel close to 6pm we noted that the rooms had not been made up, despite the late hour. This oversight was not adequately explained by the receptionist, who immediately sent the cleaning crew to the room. But I fail to understand why this was not addressed during the day while we were out. Also, for the remainder of our stay, the coffee was not replaced and neither was the toilet paper in the bathroom. All in all the maid service was very poor and rather unacceptable to be quite honest. Right through the day there is annoying ‘elevator’ music that is played on the speakers right outside the rooms such that you cannot reasonably have an afternoon sleep. I fail to understand why music is played into the early hours of the evening. But to be fair, the hotel is reasonably quiet through the night, except for annoying guests who wander in the passage outside the rooms talking loudly with no consideration for other guests. There is no pool at the hotel, despite what appears to be the case in the photo's advertising the hotel. There is a small ‘wading’ pool, i.e. about 12 inches deep that you certainly cannot use for swimming. All in all, I regret my decision to stay at this hotel. I will not return – this hotel does not meet the level of quality and service that I expect when I choose the hotels at which I stay. While the hotel may certainly be adequate for others, I will stay elsewhere when I next return to the area.

This is a guest house, and the rooms reflect that. However, they charge 4-star hotel prices, and what you get doesn’t match the price you pay. The staff are nice. The rooms are comfortable, but they’re not completely clean, and the walls are thin, so you can hear noise at night. They have a nice view of Hatta mountains. One of the main issues also is the breakfast food, which according to my friends who stayed here before, was much better. The selection is poor, limited, and lacks variety, and despite the short window (8-10:30am), they don’t replenish the food at 10am. You’ll be told you’re late and that’s what’s available. However, a “discussion” with the staff about how wrong that is fixed the situation, and we were treated to a nice spread worth what we paid for. I’d say the best thing about this experience is the ample hypermarket on site and their lovely staff. They have everything, including camping and BBQ equipments. With these premium prices, the hotel needs a better upkeep and a rethink on the breakfast buffet.

Let's start with the positives. I got a really good night's sleep in a very spacious room. The staff were all friendly, efficient and polite. It was significantly less expensive than virtually every other option in Hatta at 450 dhs including breakfast. However, the owners of the Hatta Guest House are making some fundamental mistakes. Hotel rooms become tired so easily and quickly as you can see from the pictures. The tea and coffee facilities were bizarre. The kettle was attached to a tray which I had to take into the bathroom to find a suitable plug socket. (Again, see pictures). But the biggest error is that what should be the hotel's biggest selling point, the view of the mountains, is completely ruined by a huge and entirely unnecessary canopy at each end of the hotel. The one outside our room was shading just five tables outside one of the hotel restaurants. Surely parasols would be a more sensible option?

We wanted to give ourselves an out of town weekend treat and enjoy some hiking at the Dam.| |Booked and paid for a suite and received confirmation accordingly. Sleeps six persons. We didn’t need that, only two of us but like I said, we wanted to treat ourselves. We knew it was not going to be a five star experience even though they call themselves that but we wanted to manage our own expectations. Yet for AED800 / EURO200 per night I think it is reasonable to have some level of expectation. | |Yet this place went a lot lower than we could have anticipated.| |Checked in and received a regular guest room with one king bed. Didn’t want to spoil our weekend and said nothing. Then came back to the room and the key didn’t work. Ok, that can happen. Went downstairs to get a new one.| |Then tried to take a shower. No shower gel provided. After 20 minutes of running the water still no hot water. Went down again and asked for a manager. Not available, he is on break. Wait 10 minutes and he will be back and talk to you. Back to the room, waited 20 minutes, no sign of the Manager. Tried to call reception. Telephone in the room not working. ||Another walk downstairs. Asked if the manager is back. Indeed he is outside on the terrace but busy on his mobile phone and not inclined to call me back to deal with my concerns. Does not come to talk to me but merely asks the receptionist to change me to another room.| |I step outside to talk to him. His response is to get agitated and to explain to me angrily his right to take a break!?! | |Reluctantly he takes another key and takes me to another room. This one is bigger but still only two twin beds. Certainly does not sleep six as written in the description of the confirmation. My wife and I sleep in separate beds.||Restaurant? You can eat in the Arabic tent. We go there, a few guys lying down there smoking cigarettes. Off we go to eat across the road.||Breakfast: plastic cups; plastic cutlery, individually wrapped in plastic covers! Really!?| |Not to mention, no bedroom slippers, bathroom amenities set for one person, tea in loose tea bags without wrapper, a shower door that is open on the bottom and leaks water all over the bathroom. Oh yes, one bath towel for two of us.| |This place is firmly off the list. They are outright cheating their customers. Fortunately we found a really nice place literally across the road. If ever you plan to travel to Hatta. Beware of Hatta...
