Read moreWe recently had our Granda's wake here & when confirming over the phone how many people etc would be there we said around 50 & to be fair they said that they cater for another 20 ppl at least just incase which was nice BUT they forgot to let us know when they would be closing their upstairs venue (which was at 5pm) & we only had arrived there after 2pm so we were VERY DISAPPOINTED when they came round just after 4.30pm saying if we wanted 1 morw drink then to order it now as they was closing upstairs altogether at 5pm. We was not told any of that when we booked the Atholl Hotel as if we did then to be very honest we would've changed venue & picked somewhere else as they were too quick to take our money + they saw how upset everyone was but when it came to 5pm that was it, the shop was shut basically.!!! Not that this matters at this moment in time but we had spent alot of money within the 2 & maybe 3 quarter's that we had in there but as said that's the least of our worries. Then when we came down stairs the Manager couldn't get us out of the Atholl quick enough for some reason as there was no loud mouthed people or drunk people either + by this time alot of people had enough because of the way we was getting treated at a wake, as the manager was basically stqnding in between us all asking what was we going to do ? Erm sorry sir but we have just lost the head of our Family here & you are worrying about what we was away to do after spending a small fortune in your Function room along with the booking fee also. So all in all i would not recommend this Hotel for a wake or anything similar ATALL going by the way we was all treated by the Manager especially. The other thing is we stay in the westend also & are actually only 5 minutes if 5 minutes away from the Atholl Hotel which makes it even more worse but my last comment will do it for us as this was the place that my Granda had 1 of his very last good times in there so that's the very reason why we picked the venue. ( i really hope the Atholl Hotel can read this & hang their heads in shame after reading this as we was all left deflated after. Thank you Atholl Hotel but no thanks, Never Again & we will be passing our opinions along to everyone that we see. Very...
Read moreThe Atholl is a very special place for many Aberdonians, and above all it really does represent good food at a fair price. Many of the people who work here have been there many years and know the regulars as friends and not just customers. Many family milestones/events are marked here. The regulars really are regular- many for weekly meetings with pals, some just for a drink. For me it's a constant and reliable place to meet friends and family. They've moved with the times and and cater for all generations young and not quite so young. My mother-in-law got a small portion while the young ones got full portions. My Ox cheek "stew" with pastery was almost perfectly cooked - I'd have gone a bit slower for a wee bit longer- but it was very tasty. I'm not sure what the others thought of their lunches but really would be surprised if they didn't enjoy their meals. This is a classic friendly comfortable place to eat and drink. It has kept up to date and if you're looking for a covid safe friendly place for a good meal I can't think of a better place to visit. Well done all of you at the Atholl, many thanks, stay safe and...
