Me and my family stayed here on a whim midweek and the overall experience was fairly positive. Sadly due to staffing issues the room wasn't ready when we arrived at 3pm, but the manager personally went to assist the cleaners so our room would be ready quick. 10 minutes later, we were checked in and in the room. On the first visit to the bathroom we found evidence of a yeti attack (hairs everywhere), but one quick trip to the reception and the manager immediately came to rectify it.||We then came to have a nosey at the advertised play areas for the kids.. There are none, despite the app and website advertising it (6/8/25).apparently the brewers fayre (and play areas) have been ripped out and replaced with "the social". Shame considering it was literally the reason we chose this hotel over others.||We then asked about evening meal (not to start serving until 6pm) and decided to reserve just in case. When we went for our meal we were met by the lovely Katy, what a credit to the hotel she was. Nothing too much trouble, attentive to finishing each course and great with the kids (no easy feat as they're autistic). The poor woman was run ragged single handedly running the bar, bussing the food, seating guests, changing barrels and taking orders.||The food was overall good, short waiting times, hot and tasted good. Breakfast time was a similar experience regarding quality and speed, however the coffee machine was in need of some repairs (although it did work) and the juice glasses could of done with another run through the dishwasher.||In summary, we would stay again (but only if Katy is...
Read moreArrived at the hotel. Reception not very well marked, especially in the evening when it was dark. Went to reception anspd stated to the young lady that we had travelled all the way down from Scotland and therefore would like a quiet room, she said that we would be upstairs in 103 which is a quiet room, so she said. Upon opening the door into the room, it was not exactly very warm. We did then up the temperature, but obviously took quite some time to warm up, bearing in mind that outside the temp was 0c. We heard everybody from the very noisy stairwell, up and down as we were right next to the staircase, and the walls of the hotel are paper thin. When we arrived back at the hotel at 10.00 pm, the other singlebed had been made up, but there was only two of us staying in the room. So somebody had been in the room? When I went downstairs to ask the receptionist why was the singlebed made up? She replied that the room was booked for three people, but my booking for this room was two people. My biggest annoyance was that the two suitcases which were on the single bed (which when we arrived had no cover on it or indeeed that nobody else would be using this bed) were thrown on the floor and some of the clothes were then underneath the cases, which had been...
Read moreVery Disappointed.
We travel a fair bit and have used Premier Inn quite a lot. I can safely say this is the worst Premier I have stayed at.
The biggest issue for us was the staff the evening of our arrival. Not a smile in the place, receptionist didn't even say hello, restaurant staff more or less threw our dinner at us and any questions were answered with curt one or two word answers. There was much huffing and puffing.
To be really clear though....the staff the following morning were lovely, a complete contrast.
In the restaurant, the waiting staff wouldn't (or couldn't) answer questions about the meal deal and pointed us to the bar staff, who also didn't know the answers and said 'your waiter should have told you this', as if it was our fault they hadn't. The food was OK but there were several items unavailable including the deserts we wanted, sadly.
Finally the room we were given smelled of drains. We had no issues being moved other than more huffing and puffing from the receptionist who clearly didn't want to be there. The room we moved to had failed air con ... set to 16 degrees but acutal temp in the room never got below 28.
Really not a pleasant stay....
