If you're not looking for the "hotel experience", this place is very good. You'll get a good night sleep, as the bed is very comfortable, and then some breakfast (if you bought it), and you're good to go enjoy your day, whether around the leisure center nearby or by taking the bus to Town Centre, and start exploring from there. Huge thanks to Nick for doing his absolute best in helping me figure out the right bus to go to the Town Centre.
Overall the facilities are good, the room is fairly clean. There are some marks of use around the room, like a few cracks on a wall or scraped paint, but that's not a major disturbance to your stay.
There is a kettle and tea/coffee in the room, which is nice. You can get refill coffee/tea/sugar/milk down by the reception.
The pillows were a little too soft in my opinion, so be advised if you're used to more firm pillows it might trouble you to fall asleep at first. There are no other pillow options available.
There is a bathtub and an overhead shower head. No handheld shower. Also, one of those all-purpose hair and body shower gels is provided. Towels are clean, big and fluffy.
If you bought it, you can have breakfast next door to the hotel at Beefeater. You can either have cooked or continental breakfast.
For continental breakfast you have a good selection of items, from bread for toasts, pancakes, cupcakes and croissants to fresh and sliced fruit. A coffee machine where you can select your preferred type of coffee, or have a cup of tea. Also, there is a choice of cereals and little packets of jams, butter, Nutella and honey for your pancakes and bread. Overall very good choice, although as a Portuguese I missed not having the option to have cheese and/or ham, for a sandwich.
Lastly, be advised if you paid for breakfast and have to leave before Beefeater is open in the morning, they do not provide a lunch bag at check-out, so you'll basically...
Read moreOn arrival our window was wide open, which we found strange for 10pm on a December night. We later realised after coming back the next day, after a full day of the room being closed up, it smelt horrendously of damp/mould like there had been bad water damage.
On arrival we asked reception for an extra pillow, as we were given 1 thin one each. We were told they had run out.
When we went to take a shower we discovered we had only been given 1 hand/face towel, for 2 people, for a 2 night stay.
We went to breakfast the first day after seeing the menu had vegan sausages to offer, as non meat eaters. When we walked in we asked the server if there were in fact vegan sausages, he told us yes, that he’d get them cooked now and charged us for 2 breakfasts. We grabbed some coffee (that was bitter and burnt) and some other food ready to go with our sausages.. they never arrived. After asking how long they’d be, we were told they are just cooking. 5 minutes later the same server returned informing us that actually they didn’t even have any sausages.
You can’t really complain at the prices of a room and it’s conveniently situated for where we needed to be. But rude reception staff, smelly rooms that are lacking basic essential items and a no food options for people who have dietary requirements… isn’t hard to get...

I write this at 2am in what has been the worst nights sleep in a Premier Inn I've ever had. Many years I've booked Premier Inns for my travels and have never been disappointed until today.
Firstly, there's no air con, only a single oscillating fan, moving the stagnant warm air around the room. In every Premier Inn I've stayed it's had air con, forgive me for not checking the site to see if air con was an option, I never realised it wasn't.
Secondly, due to the lack of air con and one awful fan, the window had to be open all night, which meant all you can hear up until very recently was the local Basingstoke massive and their aftermarket exhausts. At one point around midnight, two cars in the near distance were having a horn trade off, until eventually, I suspect, one of them gave up and the 'game' stopped.
Staff were very lacking, were told on arrival at near 4pm that there's a chance my room hasn't been cleaned yet as they are short on staff today. Luckily the room was already sorted so was given our original room. Yippee.
All in all, don't bother. Really, just believe me, don't do it.
If you have decided to not book this location due to my review, please give it a thumbs up or a heart reaction, I need Premier Inn to see poor decisions lead...
