No problems with the condition or cleanliness of the room but absolutely terrible attitude from the assistant on the front desk.
We checked in with no issues but the room that we had requested (a king, double and a sofa) turned out to be a room with just a king and a sofa bed - no double. We had paid more to have the larger bed. Furthermore, there was only bedding for the king. We went back down and queried this at the reception and the assistant said that “we just get told to make up the room up for two people”. We assumed, when making up the room, she thought the king was for both of us to sleep however we were in separate beds as we were mother and son. She got defensive and sharp with us very quickly and disregarded any comments that we had made about the type of booking we had.
I decided it was not worth the argument and requested some bedding for the sofa bed instead. She then huffed and puffed, went to a store room to collect the bedding, plonked the bedding in my arms, said “go there” in a blunt tone so she could access a different store room and then plonked the other bedding in my arms. She then patronisingly said: “Do you need me to make up the bed for you?” to which I said no and left her to avoid any more “inconvenience”.
Budget hotel or not, I do not expect to be patronised, made to be felt in the wrong and belittled when paying for a service that we have requested. I did not get the name of the assistant as she had no name tag but I have never encountered anybody so rude in a hotel...
Read moreThe amazing welcome we received checking into this hotel really set the tone for what was a relaxing and enjoyable stay.|As other reviews have said, the hotel has recently been refurbished and to a very high standard. |Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and well appointed, bathroom was clean and well maintained.|Despite our room being above reception and facing onto the service area car park there was no disturbance or overnight noise. Read moreA reasonable hotel, a bit tired and rough around the edges.
On arrival, in the evening, the receptionist was warm and welcoming. I was given a free bottle of spring water and a chocolate bar. I took myself to my room which was a decent size, clean bed and generally appeared clean, towels smell fresh. It has all that is required for a short stay.
The next morning I was unable to lock the door so I had to leave it unlocked with my personal items in the unsecured room. I asked the two receptionists to lock the door for me and left them my key. When I returned to my room in the evening I discovered that it had remained unsecured all day! Needless to say I checked to ensure my personal items were all there and then saw the lovely evening receptionist who was most apologetic.
Unfortunately the door does not lock at all and I had slept, a lone, petite female in the hotel with the door unsecured. Tonight I've placed the security latch on the door so that even if someone inadvertently tries the door they won't get very far!
I think due to the quality of the hotel it should be cheaper. I give it three stars because it's clean, basic and the nice evening...
