The position of these unique carriages is lovely. The surroundings are great, with lots of birds, pheasants and we watched a deer close by, in the trees. Having the pub very close was a bonus too. ||However, the site is very tired. The gate is broken on the approach and the carriages look a bit grubby from the outside. Inside (carriage 2), although almost everything is there that is required for self catering, all looked as though it needed an update. The white leather sofa is comfy but showing lots of wear and looks as though it needs cleaning. We used the showers & the floor on both was very spongy, as though the water had got underneath. Not too good if you're unsteady on your feet!! So just general repair and cleaning seem to be needed here. There are lots of walks in the area and it would have been nice to have had information on some of these. As it stands, we wouldn't recommend to friends, even though it is a lovely area to stay.||On the plus side, the bedding & towels were all very clean, the bed was comfy and we slept really well as all was nice & peaceful.||Hopefully repair & updating can be done in the near future so that the carriages are a beautiful & memorable...
Read moreFor those mad on railways like we are, this is an excellent choice of accommodation. Staying in a covered railway carriage is a unique experience and we had a fabulous time. The carriage (1) was well appointed. The narrow corridor to the bedrooms reminiscent of the way the carriage will have been modelled in its heyday. We quickly got used to going down them one at a time and enjoyed this quirkiness. The use of storage cupboards in the bedroons was a clever use of a tight space - we had plenty of room for all belongings. The best bit is the location. The grounds are beautiful and we spent many an evening sitting in the garden. Ironbridge is but an easy 45 minute walk along the old railway track. Blists Hill Victorian village even closer - again on the route of the old railway. Coalport is well served by local pubs for meals; again all within walking distance. Many thanks to Steve and Lisa - genial hosts and very much on the ball in terms of communication. Credit also to Steve for addressing minor maintenance issues immediately. We definitely recommend Coaport Station Holidays for a...
Read moreI just returned for a 4 night break here staying in carriage 2 with my 2 young children, my uni friend and her 2 young children. The children absolutely loved their week in the train, they cried when we left as wanted to stay "for a whole year". As a parent it was such an amazing lovely space to stay with young children so safe to offer the children some freedom to play and run around. We had more space than we expected on board (it's bigger than it looks in the pictures). The train was clean, the owners are so kind, thoughtful and welcoming, such attention to detail throughout, you have everything you need including amazing coffee on arrival, thank you for the coffee, it saved us, what were we thinking 2 adults, 4 children and not packing coffee 😅. They came over and welcomed us, and made our stay so perfect and comfortable thank you. We also planned entire trip in the beautiful area based on their in person recommendations and all their tips on their website. Have a great stay future visitors, you won't regret it, it was even more magical than I thought...
