Nice little pub by the river, extensive gardens. Coffee, tea and hot drinks available to take away. Good range of alcoholic beverages and plenty of ales and cider on tap. Free WiFi. Polite, respectful landlord. Well worth a visit.
UPDATE AUGUST 2025. Just taken a foreign friend to visit this traditional pub and she was enthralled. Being by the river, it has interesting high water marks which show that it's often been submerged! Once again, the landlord couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating, including patiently getting out of the way whilst my friend was filming some extended scenes. This is an interesting pub, secluded but accessible by car (and especially by the memorial footbridge from Coalport and the Tar Tunnel) and I have always been happy to visit. UK pubs are going through hard times, so please support this one if you're in the...
Read moreWhen i visited it was to watch some friends perform. Tiny bar and they were squeezed into a corner. All went well and audience joined in well. Decent array of drinks. Car parking ok. Seats and tables but you're standing on busy nights. In warm weather looks like a decent number of seats outside. Bar doesn't do food ( drinkers pub really ), but sells filled rolls. A great example of a long lost traditional English pub. Has a long history of being flooded out. Think space for wheelchair would be restricted in bar but ok outside. Brown signs show way to pub but then disappear. Just stay on road until it takes you down by the river. Not a good venue if you don't like crowds or being close to people. Otherwise nice old pub. Locals seem rather fond of ' shots ' , with...
Read moreI've visited the boat Inn Pub in Telford a few times, and it’s always a lively, busy place. Despite having been flooded a few times in the past, the pub's owners remain incredibly friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great spot to enjoy a drink with friends or unwind after a busy day.
The pub’s popularity means it can get quite crowded, but that just adds to its charm. The staff are friendly and attentive, even during the busiest times. Hopefully, they’ve managed to address the flooding issues, but regardless, it’s still a fantastic local pub with a resilient spirit.
Overall, a lively, friendly pub worth visiting—especially if you enjoy a...
