We live in west Wales and decided on a few nights away for my birthday. We chose this hotel due to wanting to take our Cavachon with us. Our dog is 4 years old and a medium size. She was allowed in all areas of the hotel inc the restaurant if on a lead. This was a first for us.||On arrival the hotel was appealing and clean and tidy, seating outside for nice weather (it wasn't great when we arrived). On arrival the receptionist was lovely, very kind and cheerful and also showed an interest in the dog (who is our baby). There were dog treats and poop bags available on the counter free of charge.||Our room was on the first floor overlooking the front of the hotel, the hotel is on the entry to the slate mines and zip world and the view wasn't great but but there was a lovely small table and two chairs there to look out over the hotel which we used every night for a quiet drink :)||Room - clean and roomy, nice shower, towels replenished if required and beds made (again your choice).||Netflix etc on TV not that we watched much to be honest.||Restaurant - Thursday and Friday was great service however on the Saturday we waited nearly an hour for our food, staff were very apologetic and gave us complimentary drinks - food was greta each night.||Breakfast - hot buffet and continental - would have been nice to have had some furit compote for the yogurt but there was apples bananas and oranges available. Great service at breakfast wth tea and coffee. On the morning of my birthday we asked for Bucks fizz was wasn't an issue and provided with a smile.||On the Thursday we chilled out, unpacked and took a stroll around the immediate area.||On Friday we went to Betws y coed, visited a lovely restaurant called y stablau and had a scone and cream, then went on to see Swallow falls (£2 entry) and visited the newly refurbished pub across the road for a drink, we drove form here to Beddgelert where we visited the grave of Gelert, walked the path and had ice cream. Both pub and restaurant had cute little barrels of water outside for the dogs :) We had hoped to catch he steam train on the Friday however it was only running one way on the Friday.||On Saturday we caught the steam train form Blaeanu to Porthmadog (not a nice day weather wise). This was a great trip although quite pricey at £49.50 per adult and £5 per dog. You could walk here form the hotel but we drove due to the weather there is a small car park right by the station - we paid £7 for 12 hours parking as the £4 was for 4 hours which we wouldn't be back for.||Porthmadog - not much to do here but found a lovely café with outside seating and had a lovely jacket potato and curry, some shops, etc and a museum.||Staff were all lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough for you.|Restaurant - lovely, good selection and reasonably priced.|Room - couldn't fault it.|Dog - everyone doted on her|Breakfast - just what you needed but would have liked some red berries or compote with a yoghurt.||The only negative was that there was no bins to dispose of dog faeces consequently a lot of lazy people had left their dog mess on the grass parts outside. When this was pointed out to staff they disposed of the dog poop for us and reassured us that bins had now been ordered and were awaiting delivery.||So much we didn't do so Would definitely return - like a home for home and the dog...
Read moreAfter 2 nights in purgatory, in a local guest house, I went to the Slate Caverns, and Saw the most beautiful Hotel, positioned in a great position on a hillside looking down the valley and beyond towards the Mountains. Thankfully they had a vacancy on the Sunday night. Unlike in the town it was peaceful with lovely walks and a huge car park, with no issues around security for the car, unlike in the town. The Hotel was beautifully renovated and decorated very contemporary and the room was perfect, with a lovely shower cubicle, toiletries , plenty of tea and coffee and a hot chocolate. with two packets of local shortbread. The bed was super comfortable and it had everything, radiators, fans, a Tv with satellite. In the morning, after 2 days of an awful breakfast bag, I was treated to an amazing breakfast, fresh juices, croissants, and a choice of cooked meals, cereals and toast. The one thing about this Hotel , which makes it stand out was the breakfast team. Although every member of staff was so friendly from booking in to booking out, the Breakfatst tea, made this meal a very special one. Friendly, helpful, kind and professional. I would like to say that Debbie was brilliant, she couldn't do enough. Overall the best Hotel I have ever stayed in. I will definitely visit again, hopefully to get a room overlooking the front of the hotel and the stunning views. Thank you again everyone at Plas Weunydd. you...
Read moreI am gutted! Iv had a room booked here for a few months now and they recently contacted me telling me I had to change my date as they were closing the hotel on the date I had. , so I rearranged for another date and then yesterday literally a week before Christmas they sent me a message through the booking app , didn’t even have the decency to call me , telling me that they’ve cancelled my booking as an eco company is coming in and has booked the hotel for the year!! I’m furious!! Obviously they’ve prioritised getting more money from this big company over general public customers. This was a Christmas surprise present for my parents and I had to tell them the news last night ;( the hotel did offer me a ‘glamping pod’ which I explained was no good to me as my mother is disabled , If I’d have wanted a pod I’d have booked one initially. They did not seem bothered in the slightest that they’d upset me but when I told them I will not be recommending them , they replied back with ‘now don’t be hasty’. Hasty?!?! I’m really upset and disappointed by this as I was so excited to give my parents a lovley gift on Christmas. And this hotel owner have just kicked me to the curb with no consideration whatsoever. This is not how you treat your customers. And I will be telling all and spreading the news to others of what you have done to me. Just pure greed that’s what it is. karma will come...
