Although my two week stay was off to a rocky start I was delighted that once I had made it to the premier inn I was to stay at for the next two weeks I was charmingly greeted by the lady behind reception called Cathryn.
Cathryn noted that I was a long stay and wanted to ensure I had a comfortable time away so put me in one of their modern rooms to which I was wholly grateful. Cathryn explained the layout of breakfast and dinner and promptly ensured I was booked into dinner for every night of my stay. Definitely off to a great start and I was looking forward to spending my next two weeks at the premier inn.
Making my way to dinner I was greeted by even more individuals whom had worked at the beefeater long term. Such as Ben. It is such a shame to see them go. Especially as they had so much passion for the business they worked for. However the now Thyme restaurant is just as delightful the menu is clearer, the layout of breakfast is pleasing and there are still some of the same faces which is lovely for me as I’ve built up quite a rapport.
I truly feel like I am home away from home. Darren and Jack have looked after me almost every dinner and breakfast. It is always so nice to see the same faces as it builds safety and comfort.
I even had a lovely conversation with Joanna who cleaned my room for me. What a lovely lady and ensured that my room was in tip top shape!
When I’m away during the day for work I look forward to coming back to my room as I know I will be greeted by the faux “family” that has been formed at the premier inn.
You can see by the way each individual treats their customers that they only want the best for them. Their warm smiles and kind approach makes coming to the Premier Inn and Thyme a true delight.
I look forward to coming back in the future and to hopefully be greeted by the same faces down the line.
Thank you all for making my stay...
Read morePI Derby West for me punched above its weight compared to other reviews. On arriving, the receptionist and duty manager were having a fag and gossip in the entry area – not a good look. But they were both helpful and friendly. My room was on the ground floor near the entrance and it was modern and to the usual Premier Inn high standard. The wash hand basin didn’t drain away – from the flowback, I guess a previous occupant had used it to wash their hair. I mentioned this to the front desk, who got it moving for one use until it blocked again. Otherwise, the room was very nice and quiet. The free wifi is perhaps a little slower than other PIs.||The old hulking Beefeater next door is closed and being earmarked for repurposing as a McDonalds by December; instead 6 rooms have been converted in a “Social” restaurant, which is modern, bright, tastefully furnished (eg smart patterned bowls rather than the usual plain white ones), if a little cramped and less chilled than the Beefeater breakfast areas. Breakfast was excellent as always, albeit they had unfortunately run out of bananas and the eggs were very undercooked on the first attempt; there was a permanent queue for the one small underpowered coffee machine. ||As for the PI reception team, at various times I saw them cooking breakfasts, hosting in the Social, doing room maintenance and cleaning/checking rooms. Whether this was multi-tasking, or amazing teamwork, there is no doubt that these committed individuals are going well beyond the job description to keep the PI Derby West show...
Read moreStaff at hotel were friendly and helpful but my partner had been booked for the dinner/breakfast package and when we arrived we were told the restaurant was closing in 10 minutes (9pm) as it was Bank Holiday. It would have been good to have been told when booking or phoned and told this so we could have eaten on the way. We ended up buying food from a Tesco Extra. When we returned to the car park we saw a large dead rat just outside the entrance. I'm terrified of rats dead or alive and was very upset at one being so close to the entrance to the hotel and restaurant and went to have a drink at the bar only to be told that she had just called last orders and the bar would be closing in 25 minutes. (10pm) We informed the member of staff at the bar about rat , she didn't seem bothered and a few moments later 3 members of staff went out with a broom and dustpan and brush. It looked as if this was a common occurrence as one member of staff appeared to have taken a picture of the rat and was showing it to others and laughing. I felt quite sick by then so we took our drinks back to our room. In the morning I noticed that there were black rat traps all over the grounds. There is obviously a major problem in the area. It was a very disappointing start to our trip and has made me...
