2nd visit to ENT/Audiology almost a waste of time. Sound reactive severe tinnitus with unilateral high frequency severe-profound hearing loss. Despite being almost a quarter of a century into the 21st century no treatment for either condition. No objective tests for tinnitus and no hope. I saw Professor Dirk De Ridder (famous researcher) from Belgium privately. When I told the ENT/inner ear specialist, they said 'who is that?' So not only is treatment for this condition AWOL, there is no interest in the research. Destroyed my hope. A new building, modern clothes but medieval discipline. Otology has not moved fwd in 30 years. I was told that there is good evidence for CBT in treatment. I was referred through IAPT and 6 sessions 2 weeks apart. The CBT practitioner said it is not a treatment for tinnitis twice on my first session. Is it too much to ask for parity with similar disorders like Epilepsy, Parkinsons and Schizophrenia? £300k a year is all that is spent on research. Quite frankly it left me hopeless. They love to blame it on depression and...
Read moreAfter Covid the Director of the Pulvertaft Hand Clinic was a 'changed man'. Different Attitude. Might have been a sad mishap in his life. Certainly he was impatient if not indifferent to his former patient who had now reached 86 (89 January 2026) A heavily pregnant doctor sought his advice. She returned to where I waited in a side room and injected steroid into soft inner wrist. Almost 3 years later, the pins and needles, which were the initial problem, REMAIN. In fact, worse now than when I first consulted! The tips of index and middle fingers have pins and needles 24/7. He told me, after finally doing what, in my opinion being just the patient, Should have been done by appointment and not the 'hurried' injection that was given. After doing the 'carpal tunnel', he threw over his shoulder, almost 'an after thought' "it went well". Well. Now. IF he reaches his own Old Age with AI and all the other "advances" I shall not be encumbered with:-) the Best Revenge will be Experts Indifference to him. Sleep...
Read moreHad finally gotten through to have a simple procedure done that's been effecting my confidence since my teens.
However, the pre-op nurses gave bad advice and told me not to take my diabetes medication the day before my surgery
When the time came to finally have surgery, I was told my sugar was too high. Well duh, I was told to not take medication.
I had three members of staff crowd my bed, staring at me to tell me they won't operate. I was embarrassed beyond belief. Everyone in the room could hear, I had staff crowing me, all because I did what I was told. Safe to say, I left. And what takes the cake, they could have just given me insulin there and then to solve the problem, but made a huge deal out of it.
Thanks for wasting so much of mine and your own time and destroying what was left of my...
