There is nothing objectionable about the hotel itself. The room was clean, the bathroom nice, with the best hotel-shower I've had in a long time.
Breakfast was usual buffet with English breakfast, fruit, cereals, etc.
Unfortunately it loses a star for the abysmal service provided by the night receptionist. When I called from the airport for information, the receptionist couldn't understand me and then simple said "I don't know", which is NEVER an acceptable answer.
When we got to the hotel, I asked from where the shuttle bus departs and again the receptionist had difficulty understanding what I wanted to know and then waved vaguely in a direction and said "over there in the retail in the retail park near McDonalds"
Unfortunately this is not correct, the bus departs from the train station which is NEXT to the retail park near McDonalds, and only thanks to some random punter having a smoke and clueing us in, we'd still be at McDonalds waiting for the bus...
Now, my brother worked as a night receptionist for many years so I know what kind of job it is, but having basic information to hand is even more essential at night when there is no one else around to ask. You are literally the only person in the entire building the a guest can ask, so you better know the shuttle bus times, you better know where the bus goes to and from, etc. etc, because "I don't know" just doesn't cut the mustard at 1am.
Second star is lost because the hotel includes no information about where the bus is or how to get to it, not even a map. Pretty poor in my standards.
For your information, the bus is not "Shutttle Bus A", whatever that is, it's the bus for the train station, and the hotel is 5 minutes walk from there. Having this information on the website or indeed from the receptionist would have saved me an expensive taxi trip (£18).
I originally intended on giving this hotel one star, but docking two stars because of one person is...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at Premier Inn Luton, and I must say that it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff who made the check-in process a breeze. The hotel's location at the heart of Luton is ideal, as it provides easy access to major attractions, shopping areas, and transportation hubs.
One of the standout features of this hotel is its affordability. Premier Inn Luton offers excellent value for money without compromising on quality. The room rates were surprisingly low, especially considering the level of comfort and service provided. The rooms were spacious, well-maintained, and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a long day of exploring the city.
The hotel also boasts an on-site restaurant that serves a delicious and varied breakfast buffet. The breakfast options catered to all tastes, with both hot and cold selections available. The staff in the restaurant were attentive and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
In terms of service, Premier Inn Luton truly shines. The staff members were always available to assist with any queries or requests, and they went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was enjoyable. Whether it was providing directions to nearby attractions or arranging transportation, their level of professionalism and attentiveness was commendable.
Overall, Premier Inn Luton offers a cheap yet high-quality stay at the heart of Luton. It is an excellent choice for both business and leisure travelers looking for affordable accommodation without compromising on comfort or convenience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Luton and will definitely be returning on...
Read moreDisappointing and odd stay - arrived last night late after a delayed flight (1.30 am) and took a while to find any staff. We eventually found a button on the self serve machines that said they were closed for check in, and that summoned a staff member. He was very panicked and unorganised, which you can forgive but we had to ask if he wanted the car reg etc and we would have been billed had we not been forthcoming. I found him to be a bit sexist only speaking to my male partner, and asking him his name presuming he was the one who booked the room and was paying etc. He told us the lift was out of order so we had to carry 4 heavy bags up the stairs with no offer of help. Later found there was a second lift that was working fine and felt annoyed and miss-led. Room window didn't open and we were disappointed to find out that it was one of the old style rooms (no lights behind bed, more dated furniture etc) not seen one of these in a couple of years thought they had all been updated now. But at least it was clean. Only one bath towel in the room for 2 guests which was really annoying, as it was so late we didn't want to go down and have to try find the staff member again so had to share one towel. Thank god we have been a couple for a long time and have little personal boundary.
Sound proofing was good however and we slept comfortably. Thank goodness as it's right next to the airport and a school.
Breakfast was next door in a Beefeater. We went down lateish after a late night and found the bakery selection to be lacking with only one crossiant left and only sliced bread otherwise. Sausages and bacon were ok.
Overall this premier inn feels a bit forgotten and unloved. Disappointed when we have stayed at others that were so good for a...
