Railway House - Apartments — Hotel in Great Britain

We rented a 2 bedroom apartment for two nights at £79 per night as an alternative to a hotel. With Morrisons close by and a well equipped kitchen we had everything we needed, and avoided the hassle of having to eat in a restaurant. We also had more space than we would have had in a hotel room. ||||The location - close to North Road station for the railway museum and trains to the NRM at Shildon - was ideal for what we wanted. It's not the most scenic part of either Darlington or the north of England but it was convenient, buses and trains both close by. ||||It is on a busy road but the bedrooms in our apartment were on the other side of the building and we weren't disturbed by traffic noise at all.||||The washing machine, fridge, freezer and iron all worked - being able to put on a small wash allowed us to carry fewer clothes with us than we would if staying in hotels. ||||The main bedroom had twin beds which I think could be joined to form a king size double, with it arranged as a twin there wasn't anough room beside them for both bedside tables. We left it as it was but I am sure the owners wouldn't have minded if we had rearranged it a little. ||||I did have to switch on and tune the radio alarm clock, and adjust the boiler timings - which was very easy. Instructions for everything were available. ||||One issue I was a little concerned about was that my booking, through the internet, involved a 50% deposit which was takebn from my card; payment of the other 50% wasn't done when we were present and I am awaiting my credit card statement to see if it went through for the right amount.||||We are planning further trips to the area and will be happy to stay at Railway...

We had a great stay here for 4 nights in this self-catering accommodation. It was well equipped, clean and nicely decorated, in fact, ideal for our needs as a family of 3. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchenette was well kitted out and the lounge area was very comfortable. Travelling with a young child we valued the freedom self catering gave us and were very pleased to have found this. The small problems which arose whist we were there were quickly seen to by the owners. There was permit free on road parking and we were able to find a space easily. It war a great base to get about from. I would definitely be happy to recommend this and stay...

A short drive from Darlington town centre and plenty of street parking outside the apartment. The apartment has everything you need and is bright and modern. Free wifi connects easy and performs well. To be picky no soap or shower gel provided. Bathroom needs decorating and professional maintenance eg yellowed gloss paint and some amateur repairs. railway museum 5 mins walk away but not a lot else in the area so you'll need a car. Overall great value for money and a lot more space and facilities than a hotel room....
