This is the first time I've given 2 stars for the Brinkburn, if I'd been dining on my own I would have given it only 1 star. For some reason the brinkburn have changed their standard salad to accompany dishes. It now has fresh coriander in it & it makes me ill. I've asked staff if I can have a salad without it but they said no because they couldn't go against company policy. However, this time I opted for a chicken & bacon salad because there was nothing in the description that it had fresh coriander in it. The top layer of salad was really nice then at the bottom was their regular standard fresh coriander salad so I couldn't finish the dish as I felt ill. If I needed gluten-free they could accomodate me but salad which doesn't cost a lot they say they can't even do though the top of the chicken & bacon salad didn't contain it so it doesn't make sense. I used enjoy a jacket potato & salad with a steak but no more. They've also stopped cauliflower in their mixed veg so to bulk it out I get corn on the cob which of course is extra to buy.
My partner opted for chicken tikka & had to pay extra for nan bread. He said the tikka was nice but there wasn't a lot of rice so it's a good job he bought nan bread. This used to be our local but we've started looking for other places. The dining experience just...
Read moreThe Brinkburn is a charming quaint pub with lots of friendly staff and patrons. We visit here quite frequently for good drinks and good company. The prices are all affordable and they have good food deals. The food itself is quite basic, and though it is at a really good price, it doesn't always taste the best, and availability is often a bit skewed. Its a greene king pub so similar menu to others like it. Not so happy that the desserts menu shrunk but that's just me XD
At busy times it can be a bit rowdy and you spend quite a lot of time waiting in line for service, but you can order drinks and food to your table via the mobile app to save the wait. The staff behind the bar have all been friendly and good for a chat while they...
Read moreSadly, it wasn't the best 1st experience here food wise. I ordered the flat steak and was very sad to say it was inedible. It was overcooked, stringy, and tasteless. I tried to eat it but gave up. It was accompanied by a tasty sauce/topping, though, but very shy on the fries, maybe a dozen scattered around the edge of the plate. In the end, I sent it back and had a burger, which was quite decent. Had the steak been cooked rarer, it might have been OK. The staff were great, very apologetic, and didn't quibble about me returning my meal, so spot on there. Nice atmosphere, and the place was clean. I would return again, but order something different. Prices seem on par with other pub...
