What a horrendous time we had from start to finish.
We started our family holiday with a disaster beginning with Hoseason which is who we booked through. After arriving to riverside there had been a problem with my booking as it was cancelled with Hoseason without any notice or explanation yet they kept hold of my money that wasn’t refunded nor attempted to be refunded but after hours of getting through to them it was sorted i know it’s not a mistake from riverside but it was the attitude of the staff that came after that.
We was told to leave with immediate effect and very abruptly until we had it sorted with Hoseason
When sorted and trying to unpack we noticed the caravan wasn’t cleaned as bed sheets had chocolate or some rather filthy stains on as did some bedding covers ( luckily we brought our own ) there was ham left in fridge from previous guests and a plate of food left in microwave but again we cleaned it
we where talked about by staff to locals ( yes we heard you very loud and clear about the lady with her 7 kids in the swimming pool all moaning ) isn’t the swimming pool aloud to be used by families or just the locals? As that’s how you all made it seem all finding ways to have digs at my children but not once to me. All the locals in the pool looked down on us and some even got out and stated they will wait until we leave to get back in ( how rude to make young children feel ) they are not dirty and they just wanted to enjoy they’re holiday. This place really ent for children with very very minimal things for them to do and should not be advertised for families at all
You would switch off all machines in the arcade to stop us from using it and closed the gate to the children’s park which was the only things available on site
Each time we entered the clubhouse you would all stare and talk among yourselfs about us while rolling your eyes at us and also laughing at us to the point I didn’t even want to come near the place if it wasn’t to take my children swimming I wouldn’t believe me
This was my families 1st holiday in a long time as I have many health issues and just wanted to make some happy memories with my family and you took that away from us. But I held my head high for my babies and made sure they made use of what we could while there which was ONLY swimming among all the sniggering and talking I refused to let you ruin that for my kids.
Stated we had no pets yet was put in a caravan next to others with 2 dogs that barked all day and night it was literally every hour woke us up every night to the point the kids slept with earphones in, No exaggerating it was horrendous.
UNLESS YOU ARE LOCAL OR PERMANENTLY SITED THERE ID SAY PLEASE GIVE IT A MISS. I REALLY DON’T KNOW WHY THEY OFFER HOLIDAYS TO PEOPLE WHEN THEY TREAT HOLIDAYERS LIKE THEY DON’T BELONG THERE, RIVERSIDE YOU SHOULD CONSIDER KEEPING YOUR SITE PRIVATE IF THATS THE CASE. WE ARE NOT BAD PEOPLE JUST A BIG HAPPY FAMILY THAT WOULD LIJE TO FEEL WELCOMED. MY CHILDREN ARE WELL MANNERED AND WILL GIVE AS THEY RECEIVE AND REMEMBER TO BE KIND AS YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT PEOPLE/FAMILY IS GOING THROUGH AND YOU'RE MANNERISM AND ACTIONS PLAY A HUGE ROLE IN YOUNG KIDS FAITH OF HUMANITY .
BE KIND!!!
P.S DONT WORRY YOUR NEIGHBOURING SITES WHERE HAPPY ENOUGH AND MORE EXCEPTING TO LET US USE THEY'RE CLUB HOUSE AND ARCADES WITHOUT SINGLING US OUT AND MADE US FEEL...
Read moreHi,
here is my review of Purn Holiday park as seen from our trip there from 2-6th June
We booked through the Sun deals and were offered a 2 bedroom caravan for 5 of us, no problems normally but please read the whole review
When we arrived it is quickly noticeable that if you do not have a car, you are stuffed, we had one so was OK
CARAVAN
Once given the key to our caravan we set off to find what must have been the oldest caravan on the park, and what can only be described as an OLD and TIRED, every caravan had weeds and grass growing around 12 inches high around the caravan, meaning that who ever does the ground work doesn't do a great job, however a small minority of the caravan owners do tend to look after there areas quite well. The caravan smells a little of damp, but we had a dog so expected not to be given the best caravan but not one this old, or smelly. Caravan was B27)
The mattresses in the caravan ALL had stains on them The shower hose holder was broken The beds are TINY When it rains and it did 3 out of our 4 days the drainpipes make a constant dripping noise. so we stuck a hose pipe up one of them.
Bar/Restaurant/Entertainment
The bar prices are just above the prices of the pub over the road, so would suggest popping over there for the following reasons
The bar is like going back 30-40 years, its so dated, and the only people in there were us (party of 5) and another family of 4 adults and two kids and the staff who own/run the park, who smoke constantly, so much so that they open a fire door to smoke just outside the door and the bar smells of smoke, so if you don't like smoke don't use the bar.
Food, well we would have had some had they served us, we walked in on "Curry & a Pint Night" at 7.45 and after I asked for three curry and a pint meals, was told the kitchen had closed at 7.45 so we went over the road to the hungry horse pub and spent just over £100 between 5 of us and had a nice long dinner and quite a few drinks.........
Entertainment
Bingo every night, a quiz and some games, nothing like they show on the website for the holiday park
Swimming pool.....YOU HAVE TO PAY Pool table.....i didn't see it.!!! If you take an extra car you have to pay £15 to park on site...!!! Shop on site, very very basic.!!
Would we go back there again, in a word NO, there are a few caravans for sale and I'm glad they didn't try and sell us one as i would shave sat down and got it for ZERO as i had so much to say to them.
We didn't say much to the staff about the above as it has all been said before so they are obviously aware...
Read moreFour adults and a four year old. We've just returned from a fantastic weeks stay at Riverside. Yes, there were a couple of negatives, and no, we didn't raise them at the time as we managed to combat them, and they didn't distract from the really good time we had. The caravan we stayed in was a six birth. Whilst there were ample cutlery, crockery & and glassware, we felt that the pans provided were of poor quality and inadequate. There was only one shelf in the oven. We expected that there should be two. And lastly (and it's the same issue at virtually every other holiday let We've stayed ), the knives in the knife block were all blunt. (The wife's tongue is sharper). May have as well used a hatchet. Apart from those minor issues, the caravan was clean and tidy. The site was well laid out and well maintained. All the staff were helpful and friendly and went about their duties diligently. We only used the restaurant a couple of times. I'm not a fan of carveries myself. However, I have to admit that the one we had at Riverside was really enjoyable. We also sampled the "build your own pizza." Outstanding. It's probably the best pizzas we've had. Pleasantly surprised at the prices at the bar too. It's more than reasonable. Well stocked with a wide choice of drinks. Apparently, we visited during the last week of low season and were informed that most of the week it would be quiet and entertainment would mainly consist of bingo, quizzes and karaoke. The best would be done to involve any children (of which there were very few). Lee, did an excellent job keeping us entertained. The bingo and quizzes were made really entertaining, and the children always came away "winning" and ice cream despite not even playing. For the number of people that were there most evenings, the prizes were very good. To summarize a very clean site offering friendly value for money service...
