Just had the most amazing spa weekend at the stunning Chevin Country Park Hotel and Spa in Leeds! Took the perfect rejuvenating break before diving into my upcoming writing retreat at this dreamy countryside oasis. With the jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna all to yourself, it's pure bliss! Highly recommend it if you're looking to unwind and recharge. Surrounded by lush woods and nature, l'm feeling completely inspired and ready to create my next big ideas! #SpaWeekend #NatureVibes #WritingRetreat #Inspired #HighlyRecommend

We arrived on a Friday. A party of 4 women, parking was no problem, one disabled bay. But you can drive your car around to the cabins and be very close to your accommodations. The lady on reception was pleasant enough but quite firm when explaining the specific time slots for the spa. We were under the assumption we could go in any time , it's a spa hotel after all! We were told we could make a reservation for our dinner between 6 and 9 pm, but our time slot for the spa was between 8pm and 9pm!!! Who wants to go to a spa, after an evening meal ! Our next opportunity to use the spa was in the morning between 7 and 10 am, breakfast is on at the same time !!!!! We made the decision to go to the spa at 8pm, and eat at 6.15pm. Then to use the spa at 8 am, and breakfast at 9.45am It's all absolutely ridiculous and the reason we would definitely not book to stay here again. The hotel, overall is in a tired condition. An example is not a single tea light on the tables had a new candle in never mind lite . The fire in the garden room had not been lite making the room unusable as it was very cold, reducing seating areas for guests. Two of us had a cabin, 54, this apparently was an upgrade! It was very small and basic , only slightly up a level from glamping! It was clean , well stocked, and had what we needed it was just very basic. The other room 43, was more like a hotel room. It was large with a seating area and twin beds, with a large clean bathroom. Even though we had told them this room was for someone with a disability, it was an over the bath shower so the lady couldn't use it. We had a drink at the bar before our meal, the service was perfect We went into dinner , the room is lovely with plenty of seating upstairs and down with lovely views. Service was good, we ordered 3 chicken pates, and a cheese souffle these came Swifty. The souffle was delicious, the pates were just standard. We had ordered two rump steaks, the sea bream , and chicken supreme. Unfortunately there had been a problem in the kitchen and the waited came over to let us know that there would be a thirty minutes delay , we were fortunate and didn't wait that long. But others in the restaurant waited a very long time for there food. The staff were very good at dealing with the situation, and kept everyone updated at all times . Things happen sometimes, and they dealt with the difficult situation very well. The food was ok the steak was over cooked and tough, the sea bream was not seasoned well and very small. The chicken supreme was described as bland. We decided to have coffees in the garden room, but it was very cold even though multiple attempts were made at getting the fire going . The coffees so took 25mins to arrive. The staff can not be praised enough they do go over and above . Because of the delays we missed our chance to go in the spa. In the morning we headed to the spa, we waited at reception but no one came so we looked around and found the robes , towels and slippers. Then found are way to the small changing rooms . The pool area is clean , but not covers on the seating , so had to use our towels. There is a pool ,sauna and steam room, small inside Jacuzzi, and a large outside Jacuzzi. The pool is a little cold, but not too bad The sauna is good, the steam room is not hot enough. The outside Jacuzzi is lovely 😍 After a tight squeeze change, there are no separate changing rooms . There is only shower gel in the showers. We headed to breakfast, and got seated . It took another 20 minutes for them to take our breakfast order. There are cereals, cakes , pastries, hot drinks, toast, fruit and yogurt, cheese and meats buffet style. Unfortunately the choice of tea bags was zero. There was no butter just floral , we had to push to ask for butter in a dish We got the northern cooked breakfast the sausage was terrible it looked supermarket bought. The scrambled eggs were microwaved and rubbery . The pouched eggs were freezing both were sent back to the ki Feel free to drop me a question or follow me for other reviews.

Will never book again. I attended my best friends wedding at the Chevin last week, I live relatively close by was under the impression this was a wonderful place to stay and judging by the advertised prices I felt I should expect an amazing experience, I was very wrong! The wedding planning, although it was a little bumpy due to covid was quite good and the event staff seemed amiable however the hotel and service itself…..

Thursday night the Bride and bridesmaids went for a meal in the restaurant, the food was okay but the portions were incredibly small for the price. The staff in the restaurant (namely a chap called Paul) were wonderful, he literally couldn’t do enough to assist, he is seemingly the only good thing about this place. Our room for the night was modest, very very dated and corporate looking, there was very little comfort to the room. There was black mould in the shower tray and on the ceiling, the windows in the bathroom were grim, rusty and mouldy with peeling paint everywhere. The toilet didn’t flush properly and the shower was so small you couldn’t move around in it to wash properly. The curtains were marked with something white?!? The bin was not empty when we entered the room and the kettle was still full of old used water. Small problems but they add up when you have paid an extortionate price for a room!! The saving grace was that the bed was quite comfy.

The morning of the wedding came and when arriving at the “Bridal” lodge in the beautiful woodland setting I expected to be wowed. I have honestly stayed in better tents. The bathroom was tiny, the curtains were stained and visibly dirty. The carpet looked older than me and the general feel of what should be a beautiful bridal suite was something akin to a room in roadside motel. We pre ordered breakfast, it came but many items were cold or missing. Tea and coffee were served with no cups, the food items ordered for the children were totally missing, there were no side plates and the cutlery was not clean. All that aside the manoeuvring of the bride and bridal party to the ceremony room was ok, Anna the staff member who assisted was very lovely and incredibly helpful throughout the whole day. The ceremony was good as was the first part of the reception. The reception room was poorly set up with tiny spaces between tables and when they brought out the evening buffet it was almost hidden behind a table of guests, no room to move at all let alone get a plate of food together with a small child assisting. The evening went on and was fine. Then came the biggest issue. A card box for the happy couple was put out and guests filed into the room popping their cards of well wishes into the box. Only the next day was it realised that cards were missing, we appreciate these could have been taken by anyone and this is not an accusation but the issue I have is the lack of assistance from the hotel over this matter. The couple are at a loss of £400 now, the hotel were almost impossible to contact and when finally the bride got through she was told there was no cctv and that was that. No further assistance was given, not even an feigned offer of any help. This has left the couple very upset and quite angry, not a great way to start their married life.

The hotel is very old, shabby and not worth the cost. Very disappointing, will not be...

So despite my ratings I really enjoyed my stay this was solely based on the company and the fact that myself and husband were in dire need of a night away to relax so we made it what it was. That said I cannot fault a single staff member we encountered or staff that served us, this goes for all areas (bar, spa, restaurant and reception). However I would like to add some feedback I feel is very necessary. The whole place just seems run down and outdated and in dire need of maintenance and refurbishment this was apparent in ever single part of the complex. We stayed in lodge 70 (executive lodge) it was grubby, there was unknown liquid had been spilt down the bathroom door, there was grime around the bath the tiles and mirror were not clean, decking not swear, watermarks on furniture from drinks and the sofa sunk when you sat in it so it was so uncomfortable. The bed was the worst bed I've ever paid to sleep in and I could feel every spring. I appreciate that this is a wooded/swampy area and that requires extra rodent deterrent but the one in our lodge flashed lighting the whole cabin up all through the night, we ended up opening the wardrobe door to block it and to try and limit it, which worked a little. There was clear expanding foam used to fill a gap to the outside but this had not been finished to a high standard certainly not executive standard. The other issues we have a much more of a suggestion, whilst we understood the need to maximise your revenue streams by proving events such as wedding you also need to remember that you also spa guests, the 2 fully conflict not in a good day. Could some nice willow screening not be grown around the spa to make a screen between that and the restaurant/bar/ wedding areas. I felt extremely self conscious logging around in a bright red swimming costume by the outdoor hot tub whilst a few metres away you have a wedding and uts guests dressed in the finest and taking pictures. Also using the bar and restaurant whilst I was dressed for this lots of people weren't and they are literally and physically rubbing shoulders (people in bikinis and bathrobes and groomsmen and mother of brides in their finest). The wedding also conflicts at evening, so I've come to a Spa to relax but even though we were at Lodge 70 (2nd furthest away from main building) as I was trying to relax and sleep all I could hear was the thud thud thud of the wedding, not relaxing at all. Going back to the grounds,I realise its a wood/swamp but could some thought be put into the paths, could they be power washed or raised as it it so muddy between the lodge and main buildings. We witnessed the bride having to detour around flooded paths. There is do much mud on the paths. All in all I think in its day this place would have been amazing but its all well worn out and tired. It needs maintenance and repairs and refurbishment. At very least it needs a really good clean, the standard is just not there. I was very disappointed with the standard of accommodation especially as I'd paid for the higher end accommodation. We had no issues with food, staff or service. Please consider the guest experience for both events such as weddings and guest there for spa or other, they currently conflict and this seems a real shame that not enough thought has been put in to manage it well or think about it could...
