At the time of writing, I am presently staying here. Overall location demographics are good. There is still road work going on to improve its accessibility to other road networks. Easy to find with an excess of parking available. Many other food joints here also. First thoughts were oh my I've been put in a motorway service hotel. It's odd styling and grass roof make look quite eco friendly. A pleasing building in corporation many other establishments. Well that stopped as I entered the building. WiFi available, just sign in to it. Checking in ,although a little slow as one person on duty .Reception very polite and informative. Clean spacious area within and a large outside seating and play area on the other side of the building. Room very spacious and clean , was hoping for a bath .But the shower was so good it would take your skin off. Usual coffee sugars milk and tea within the room ,also iron and board. Room temp was cool, but on asking Reception, they adjusted it centrally, would have liked to have my own control on this. If you want your room turned then there is a sign to hang on the door otherwise it will not happen. I had to go to Reception to air my disappointment that that had not happened as the sign was duly in place as required. Apart from the coffee etc , clean towels I was perplexed at the fact this bedding may not have been changed. Closer inspection made me think either it's the same bedding or this maid cannot make a bed very well . Looked like I was home. Sink area not wiped down as splash residue still seen on sides of sink . That was cleaned. Empty beer glasses left in the room and not taken. Food menu is simple ,priced well, and the portions volume are more than filling. Service time pretty good. The breakfasts ,self-serve usual , continental and English. Although the bedding thing ticked me off as I was unsure it had been done.I have to say this place is absolutely a worthy stay. Staff good rooms good, no noise from outside, food good. Other guests not so good usual loud inconsiderate individuals whom let their doors bang shut.Like just now..argh. Little gym upstairs available. Simple but adequate. Outside play amenities, good for dog people.Lake near by for a walk around and defuse the day.Its a good stretch of the legs . Because of the room issue it's four star . Would I come again...
Read moreReally poor. Have stayed 5 times before without any major issues but this time round has been really poor. Grubby room. Room 031. Room not attended to while I was out and I had to replenish my own coffee and milk from reception. Food service lamentable. Arrived in bar at 18:10, ordered a beer and asked for food only to be told I needed a book a slot. Earliest offered was for 19:00...wasn't thrilled about this but accepted it despite the restaurant appearing empty (8 covers in a restaurant seating 50-ish). I became cross at 18:45 when I queried why I couldn't have been seated sooner in a restaurant where no-one had arrived and no-one had left in the 35 minutes I'd been waiting. The young lad on the counter couldn't manage a coherent sentence and suggested that his mate behind the counter might be able to explain. I was eventually allowed to sit and order in the still quite empty restaurant at 19:00 without an explanation. I'm going to complain to the duty manager the service is half baked and frankly I expect better.
Edit...at 20:11 spoke to the duty manager who clearly did not give a toss and expected me to believe that only 4 people every 15 minutes could be seated for food. Very dismissive of my grumble. I was gaslighted for the fact that I was unaware I had to request that my room wasn't maintained e.g. replenishing tea and coffee (small sign was on counter but not prominent but not advised at check in and nothing in room to advise other than a QR code ( the QR code could have been a dummy, leafing me into any sorts of security troubles on my phone, whats wrong with a welcome pamphlet???). I pointed out that this was my 6th stay (employer local to hotel so convenient) and had never previously encountered room maintenance issues nor nonsense with being able to dine.
Had breakfast at 06:00 earlier today and opted for toast as the cooked food already looked dried out, despite supposedly being fresh.
Will be raising a complaint to hotel owners as local staff only trained to rebuff criticism and grumbles.
Not good enough Ramada. That's me...
Read moreStayed here 3 nights. Hotel is new, and the rooms are at a reasonable price. Unfortunately the service from reception staff and housekeeping is appalling. Each day we were promised that the rooms will be cleaned by housekeeping whilst we were out (staff were not allowed in the room when we are present due to covid restrictions so the day staff would note our room number for later cleaning). However, upon returning in the evening we would find that rooms were not cleaned at all. The night staff would give a different story to the morning staff - morning staff would promise to have the room cleaned whilst we were out, but the night staff would say that cleaning is not allowed due to the covid situation (even in our absence!). Night staff would even refuse to replinish soap in the bathroom - Declan at reception said he is not allowed to come up and give soap at the room entrance due to COVID policies. This is strange because a day staff member did deliver towels at the room entrance. The policies appear to be inconsistent between the day and night staff and they are just shifting blame on each other. Unfortunately the staff seem lazy and have a careless attitude. They are using COVID as an excuse to not fulfill the most reasonable requests - funnily they are not covering their faces with a mask in communal areas despite their apparent fear of covid. This falls far below the standard expected of even a 3 star hotel. A shame on Ramada and...
