Woodlands Hotel — Hotel in Leeds

My friend got married here last weekend (24/11/17). The heating in the marquee had broken the week before and hadn't been fixed so as you can imagine it was freezing! We were sat on table 5 which was the last table to be served food, when our food arrived it was bearly warm. One of the children didn't have a meal so had to wait for a meal to be prepared. They then brought out 2 oil heaters and placed them behind the top table, it was far too cold and everyone was complaining. Once the speeches were done everyone left. Guests were going to their rooms to get a bath just to warm up, people were scattered around the hotel trying to get warm. The hotel DJ was 40 minutes late by which time all the eve guests had arrived and were hanging around the reception as we were told we couldn't go into the marquee until the dj had set up! After 20 mins the electric went off in the marquee, people were running around unplugging the little mobile heaters and checking the electric supply. The manager had left at this point and was not answering his phone leaving his poor staff to deal with cold guests! I really can't express how cold and fed up we really were at this point, the poor bide and groom really tried to make the most of a horrible situation, once the electicity was back on the cake had been cut and the first dance done guests were leaving or going to their rooms. I decide at this point I didn't want to stay that night, myself and my 5 yr old were so cold I just wanted to go home. My room the previous night was cold when I woke up in the morning and really couldn't face being cold any longer, I asked what the cancellation policy was to be told I would have to pay in full £110 a night and speak to the manager the following day. The following day when I contacted the hotel there was no manager there, I left my name and contact number and was contacted today (Wednesday) by Nigel! Nigel said he would like to know why I had cancelled my room. I explained about how cold it was but he wasn't interested, he kept saying but there was nothing wrong with the room other than it being cold, told me I should have asked for another heater putting in my room, but with a 5 yr old I said I felt that wouldn't be very good idea in case she touched it! Nigel was very ignorant had no empathy or customer service skills, he said he was willing to refund me £50 and was very blunt in saying that was all I would get!

I'm really disappointed in the management and their attitudes at this Hotel, I will not be recommending...

Just want to say a huge thank to Abbigail, Charlotte and the whole team at Woodlands for making our day run as smooth as it did. Could not have asked for more than what the Woodlands team did, it was truly an amazing day ❤️

All our guests haven’t stop talking about it and saying how it was the best wedding they’ve been too, and that was down to the guys at Woodlands help as well!! None of our guests had been to Woodlands before and they all absolutely loved it ❤️

Abbigail, thank you for listening and replying to all of my daft questions, you made me feel at ease throughout all of this. Nothing was too much for you, you responded so quickly and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. You are a credit to the Woodlands Hotel.

Charlotte, thank you for everything on the day previous and the day of the wedding, you were amazing too! I know some of our guests were a little rowdy, but you handle them with so much more patience than I would have done haha! So thank you for that, again Woodlands are so lucky to have you!

We could not have dreamed for a better venue for our wedding, it was honestly the best day of our lives. Abbigail, Charlotte and the whole team added so much attention to detail to make the rooms switch arounds so perfect, everything came together so much better than I could ever have imagined.

The orangery is such a magical room, the lighting, the attention to detail, everything!! if you’re thinking of booking the Woodlands then you absolutely need too, you will 100000% not regret it!

The food was incredible, our guests haven’t stopped talking about the beef haha! I think one guests was even licking his plate on a picture I seen lol 🤣 but I don’t blame him as it was absolutely amazing!

There is absolutely nothing to complain about. They work so well with all your venders, they make the planning of the wedding stress free!

The whole day was perfection from start to finish! We will forever be grateful to the whole of the team for making our day as special as it truly was.

We both get to come back for our friends wedding in 2025, so really excited to come back and see the venue again and re live the magical experience the Woodlands offers.

I feel emotional writing this, as I would absolutely love to do our day again. And without a shadow of a doubt I would pick Woodlands ten times over! I will never not recommend this venue enough!

We held our wedding here on 07/08/22 and all I can say is if you are considering this venue then do it - you won’t regret it!

Firstly, thank you to Jessica for all of your wedding planning and help which guided me smoothly to arrange a wedding in just 15 weeks! There’s is no question that I couldn’t ask. And the menu tasting (included) was a fabulous experience meaning that there were so many possible options for the big day.

The day itself ran exceptionally and ALL of the staff could not have done enough! Secondly, thank you to everyone who worked on and who was involved with that day. You all adhered to every single request like it was zero effort and went above and beyond in all aspects.

Finally, thank you to Marc the toastmaster. Your hosting skills and manner was nothing short of elite. There’s nothing I can say other than thank you a thousand times over - we genuinely had the best day ever. Faultless.

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous! If you don’t believe me then check out the drone shots on the official website. We are still awaiting the photographers photos but the ones we are receiving from friends and family confirm that we chose the perfect place and the good old English weather was on our side.

The bedrooms are luxurious! Huge, cosy, classy and comfy. The canapés, room dressing and absolutely everything about this place is perfect. The location makes you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere (or the depths of North Yorkshire) when really you’re just 15 minutes away from Elland Road and the M62. We and our family were still treat like royalty at breakfast the following morning and everything was to one side ready for us to collect/take home.

I guess some may say that I’m bias but I can imagine that not every newlywed couple feels the way we do about their wedding day and venue. If I could give Woodlands Hotel 6 stars then I really would!
