I would not stay at again or recommend this hotel. The surrounding neighborhood was quite sketchy and the hotel car park is limited to about six spaces (thank goodness I didn't end up renting a car). There is no hotel shuttle, though the hotel is located at least an hour and a half via public transportation from Heathrow Airport (and longer, from what I could tell, from Stansted or Gatwick). The directions to the hotel from the major airports on the hotel's own website were wrong. The hotel is not well-labeled and looks like either a restaurant or a private residence, which necessitated a call to the front desk to ask where the actual front door was (I was told they couldn't label it due to it being a historic, listed building; I think they could have at least put a sign on the front gate). The hotel is not handicapped accessible as there are about ten steps up to the front lobby and the hotel is located within three different buildings with stairs and ramps between them, but requiring you to go outside to change buildings. The "hotel information" binder in the room was empty, literally filled only with empty document protector sleeves. The bedside outlets were not functioning. The room was incredibly tight with the furniture in it, making it difficult to move around within the room and hard to even open the door if a suitcase was on the luggage rack provided (if it wasn't on the luggage rack, the only other real option was to put it on a bed, due to the lack of space). The bathroom was the largest "free" space in the room. There were three clocks on the wall, but not one of them worked. The bed was too firm. The room was incredibly noisy between the car park outside the window and the very old and loud elevator on the other side of the wall. There was barely any water pressure in the shower. No breakfast was included. The TV was set on Italian or Spanish (in England) with the closed captions on, but there was no way with the provided remote to either change the language or turn off the captions (I called the hotel asking for another remote to do so, but was sent a maintenance man who didn't speak English and who didn't understand what I wanted done). Most of the front desk staff spoke very poor English (again, in England!). I was EXTREMELY disappointed...
Read moreI wouldn't even give my experience one star Worst experience I have ever had in my life. Please do not stay here if you want a stress free stay. The hotel staff are very rude and forced us to pay for our rooms before arrival, which the whole point of booking was for an engagement party so we booked rooms for other people to pay when they arrived. We were told if we do not pay now then all of our rooms where canceled. When one of my party arrived to check into his already paid for room, they refused him entry to his room and said he had to be escorted? So he was refused a room I was forced to pay for, and was left empty. When we asked for an iron, the first one blew up and nearly electrocuted me, the second had brown water spilling out and the third burnt someone's dress and left a massive iron print, this in total took an hour back and forth to sort out and then the manager refused to come out and speak to us and said there was nothing that could be done. One of the members of staff behind the desk for it was very funny and was laughing. Discussing behaviour and even before our stay, over the phone the staff where appalling, one threated to again cancel a booking and another told me without my booking number I would have to call back as it is easier for them and refused to search for my booking without it ( even though I couldn't find one which was the point of me calling). After then paying for rooms, they told one of my gusts she didn't have a room and again refused to check her in becuase they said she didn't pay...even though all rooms had been paid for, the staff member behind the desk rufuaed to listen untill I then went down to sort out. overall please please please do not stay here, spend your money else where. They are scammers and purposely over book the hotel and then cancel everyone's rooms and sees who calls back in time and pays for their room before they arrive. Their poor excuse to this was that they where busy so it was easier for them DO NOT STAY HER. As the host of my own engagement party to show up two hours late becuase of the hotel and have to sort out the hotels mistake is terrible. The whole experience...
Read moreMyself and my husband stayed here for our wedding anniversary celebrations in London, we chose this hotel due to the name best western, as we had stayed with this chain of hotels in the past and had brilliant service and an excellent stay. however, on this occasion, this was slightly disappointing, the corridors and reception smelt of sewage on several occasions, the front of the hotel was plastered in scaffolding, there was no visable disabled access as there seemed to be stairs in every direction apart from one lift in the hotel, no ramp on the exterior of the hotel. The staff are friendly, however the lack of customer service skills are horrendous, having one particular incident happen over the phone when ringing reception (when they eventually answered the phone) this left me disgusted along with another resident, which lead to a management conversation the next day, the management was the reason we decided to continue our stay as we were dealt with quickly and fairly, treated to complimentary breakfast as a way of apology which was generous. The manager seemed to be doing the job of three, even though he was one man, being a manager, receptionist and a waiter all in one, which to me would be the one reason we recommended this hotel. We would kindly advise that the hotel looks into their training for current and future staff, into ways of handling customer service and certain situations that the staff find themselves in and how they would deal with this, as we witnessed on separate occasions, staff becoming frustrated and irritated for the most simple of requests, from key cards to towels in rooms (or lack of) we feel that putting this review is harsh, however we know that people reading this review would look into it fairly and we hope to wish the hotel a pleasant future and best wishes, hoping that things improve, on a more positive note, we would stay at this hotel again due to the management and the convenience of the travel to and from London, as the bus stop is located imminently outside the hotel and the train station is only 10-15 minutes down the...
