I have stayed in this hotel many times over the years when exhibiting at the NEC. On this occasion I arrived at reception to overhear 2 people complaining to the receptionist about the heating not working in their room. I witnessed the receptionist being fairly rude to them!
Once in my room, it was fairly chilly but I prefer that to a hot room anyway so didn't compalin myself. However, over night i woke several times and I was really cold but I just got on with it. In the morning I wanted a shower and found there was no hot water at all. I left the tap running to see if there was a delay in the pipes for the hot water to run through, to no avail. There was no phone in my room to contact reception about the issue and I didnt want to walk down to reception in a towel, or bother getting partially dressed. Due to time restrainsts, I had to have an ice cold 30 second shower and then get on with my working day.
I complained to reception about the lack of hot water and she just said "oh i've just re-set the boiler so it should be working now" , which was far too late as I needed to leave for work!
This hotel used to be good about 8 years ago, but has severly gone down hill the last few years. This used to be my 'go to' hotel when visitng the NEC but sadly this is the final straw and I won't be...
Read moreThis hotel is easy to find so the location is very good. There is a gas station across the road where you can buy sandwiches and other kind of food, drinks and snacks for a fair price. Staff is very nice and helpful. They have a 24/7 reception. The bed is very comfortable and the size of the room is fair enough for one person. It is very old and some spots in the room are a bit dusty (around chair legs or corners). The windows are made of wood so there is a bit mold on the wood. But the windows are noise impervious. The breakfast has a very fair price and is so good. You can have hot drinks like coffee americano, espresso, cappuccino, tea, etc. or cold drinks like different kind of juice and also the food is very tasty. You can have english breakfast, fresh fruits, muesli, toast and pancakes. The service in this restaurant (called Beefeter) is very good. In a 15 min walk you can reach the train station and some small...
Read moreWe stayed there for 3 nights for MegaCon Live. The hotel looks cosy both inside and out. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. Lovely, clean and super comfortable bed. I loved the fact that there were extra pillows available. Lovely reception staff! We know where we'll be staying next year when we come back for MegaCon again! I'd highly recommend! There is a Beefeater restaurant right next to the hotel although I would advise against going there for dinner. Slow service, we had to hunt for cutlery, main and deserts were taken out at the same time, then the deserts were taken back and re-heated and served to us again. Both me and my partner had upset stomachs during the night and we had completely different food. There is a Sainsbury's across the road. You'd be better off getting something from there. There are options near the hotel and the NEC is only 10 minutes drive from the hotel. We'll...
