I heard really good things about this restaurant from 2 friends who live in Balsall Common so I was looking forward to going there. I ordered their online takeaway menu but it didn't check out so I hadn't paid. When I got there I told the manager this & showed my phone. They fobbed me off and were very off hand saying it might be my phone but entered my order. While paying I saw an offer prominently displayed at the cash registerfor a deal on Mondays & Tuesdays. I asked if it applied to takeaways but I was very rudely told it wasn't and it said that on the website that it was for dine in only. I said that the ad didn't specify that it was dine in only. This seemed strange to me as takeaways are usually cheaper than dine in meals. I asked for a glass of water while I waited which was supplied. I was ordered to sit down and wait. But I went outside, when I came back in I was again commanded to sit down "love" the tone wasn't pleasant. I said my name is not love. I was utterly shocked at their attitude towards me. There was no goodwill shown due to the website not working, my wait etc. The encounter ended with the manager asking me if I had been there before I said no but I had heard good things about the restaurant and hoped to be a repeat customer but said that the customer service was really bad. This interaction ended with the manager telling me to "get lost, get out & don't come back" I was shocked at how I was spoken to and how the interaction ended as well as the fact it was done in front of other guests. This wasn't at all what I was expecting. It's a shame as I was hoping to be a regular customer. I could not understand their attitude I wondered if I was a woman & not smartly dressed? Who knows perhaps the manager was having a bad day. Never experienced anything like it!!

The decor is nice. The service is nicer! The food was very tasty! I came on a Monday evening and selected 2 courses. After ordering I noticed that you could order a starter, mains, rice or naan, followed by coffee/tea for £14.50. It looks like the offer is drawing in the diners as the front and rear parking spaces were full by the time I left. I was also impressed that the bill showed that my order had qualified for the Monday deal and was charged accordingly, without asking. Tasty food, will be back!

Been a few times to this Indian restaurant and never have anything else but great food and service. Poppadoms and sauce make a good starter served with a nice ice cold pint of Cobra. Had a few dishes of the menu in the past and all have been lovely but my favourite is the Indian Railway Cabin chicken with a roti. On this occasion I asked for Mata Paneer as a side order with my main course which was not on the menu but the made for me no problem. I would recommend a vist to this lovely restaurant.

This place is a joke the customer serivice is aufull from the moment I walked through the door, the man greeted me like he did not want my custom, I had a cap on and at this point nothing was said about there “no cap policy” I was seated on a table at the back I then ordered drinks and popodoms where the same man who greeted me tried to get me to Chang where I was sitting and I was happy where I was but he was adamant I moved seats he Was very rude, so after this another member he of the staff approached me and said do you mind taking your cap off we have a no cap policy, I did not realise I was in such a high end establishment...joke I said yes I do mind and I left the premises. The staff made me feel like they did not want my custom from the second I approached the door. Do not go to this restaurant unless you want to be treated like you are not welcome. go to the restaurant over the road called Bengal brassarie it is much more welcoming and the food...

10/10 From a take away on a friday night or eating in at the restaurant itself on a saturday - Tamarind Cafe ALWAYS delivers! So unbelievably glad to have tripped up on this little gem, cannot believe we have only discovered it recently. As vegetarians the choice on the menu is astounding, I have tried a different dish every time and each one is just as delicious as the last! The service when eating at the resturant is second to none; the staff are attentive, helpful, welcoming & a pleasure to be served by. To top it all off - the price is fantastic; for freshly prepared, authentic, delicious & generous portions - the only suggestion I could give to the Tamarind Cafe is keep doing exactly what you are doing, much appreciation for making every take away night a...
