Some of the best Bengali/Indian food I've enjoyed in a while. We shared a chicken balti, sizzling chicken tikka, mixed vegetable rice, aubergine bhaji and poppadums with chutneys which worked out at less than £25 each (with a couple of soft drinks). The staff were friendly and attentive from the moment we walked in, and while the food arrived quickly there was no sense of rush for us to vacate our table once we'd finished eating, making for a really pleasant evening out. Our waiter noted how much my wife enjoyed the tamarind chutney with the poppadums and brought her another one at no extra charge to enjoy with the main course - just one of several little touches that made the whole visit stand out. We'll be returning when we're in the area again.

Great to come back here after (decades!?) and find the original owner back in charge. Superb food. Great service snd welcome. Great quality, freshly cooked food. A small but caring team bring this place back to greatness again. Well worth a visit for a good curry. Chicken Tilka was sizzling hot and the fresh naan from the over was delicious!

Long and correct review! Been in tonight after a long day at the NEC. The atmosphere was amazing, instantly greeted by one gentleman who was happy to assist, sat us down and took our drinks order. Hung around to have a chat briefly which was really nice, left us for a few minutes to think about our food choices and happily took them down. Service was warm, welcoming and it felt like we'd been coming for years and that we were really a part of the restaurant. Service was 10/10. Food was amazing, bhajee starter was the best I've ever tasted, it was light and not dripping with oil but had all if not more punch than any I've ever had before. The sauces given with poppadoms were left at the table, something I've never seen before so really loved that. The lamb Rogan josh with Pilau rice was amazing, the curry itself was very rich and tasty, and you could tell it was cooked in house and not out of a packet. The lamb was incredible, moist and just melted like butter. The fat was a bit jelly like for my tasting but did not take away from the meal at all. The rice was amazing, again, you could tell it was home cooked - light, fluffy and aromatic. Peshwari naan was beautiful, again, homecooked. It was fluffy and very sweet and had some drizzling of honey which was a nice touch. Food was off the scale, a solid 15/10. I didn't finish it all which felt like a shame because it was such good food, portions were good sizes, not too much of anything. I've found with other Indian restaurants they can give too much rice for your curry which was not the case here. Service was relaxed, incredibly friendly, honestly felt like we had been going for years the way we were treat by the staff and I will be visiting again. Unfortunately I am not local and live 2 and a half hours away but it would be worth the travel just for this restaurant in all honesty, unlike anything I've ever experienced. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone, from old friends meeting up to a party of 10.

If I could change anything it would just be the table size for 2 people. Quickly becomes a little crowded but this is bearable and does not take away from the overall experience.

Thanks to the staff for such an...

Went there this evening for a meal with my husband. The food was ok, wouldn’t say we were blown away. Overpriced and pretty tasteless, but ok. The lads serving were nice and friendly, although the service was really slow. The main issue occurred at the end when we asked for the bill. We waited for over 20 minutes, but they must have forgotten so my husband went to the counter to pay (not the end of the world). As we started to walk away, in front of the whole restaurant one of the staff (the only one wearing a face shield as opposed to a face mask) rushed over and told us that we needed to pay our bill before leaving. My husband showed him the receipt and he marched us to the counter, only to discover that in error THEY had charged us for someone else’s meal. No apology for their error, and we stood there in front of people waiting for takeaways whilst they worked out our bill. Still no apology for their error, it turned out that we had underpaid by about £3!! No apology again, but grudgingly said he wouldn’t charge us (although we were happy to pay for what we’d had). Still not apologising for their mistake, and standing in front of a restaurant full of people after being accused of leaving without paying, we walked out. We were extremely embarrassed, and really upset. 10 minutes later I called to speak to the guy who’d accused us (he was the only one who was wearing a shield rather than mask so easily identified). I explained how he’d made us feel in front of everyone, and said how disgusted I was that no apology was given for their error. All he wanted to do was argue with me, and said that if we’d waited long enough then he would have. How long should we stand in the restaurant given the humiliation he’d just caused?? Oh, and he also said “I let you off the £3”. Not a big deal as we were happy to pay for what we’d had. He was so argumentative and rude. Yes, I argued back, as I couldn’t believe what I was hearing!! Disgusting customer service for what was a very overpriced...

I am hugely disapointed as a local at the quality of the dishes & service provided by The Masala Club recently, I am not sure if they are short staffed, the chef has changed or the staff genrally lack basic communication but it is clear The Masala Club do not value thier regular customers. Two weeks in a row now they have got our order wrong.. at £9 for a veggie saag dish it is made with frozen veg, specifically asked for no potatoes & no joke there was a whole half of potato in the dish!! The other dish I asked for mild was inedibly hot - total waste of money. When only last week we had to drive back to the resturant to return a veggie dish that contained chicken, with no offer for a refund as a gesture of good will considering we had to make two journeys.. Well disapointed, will not be spending our...
