Firstly I want to thank the staff member at reception at our check in, he made us feel very welcome and made sure all the relevant paperwork for my wheelchair using wife was completed. We stayed in room 100 which was an accessible room on the first floor. It was spotlessly clean and nice crisp sheets on both beds. However the room itself is in need of an upgrade the furniture was very tired and we had to report the loose table. Also in this day and age we need power sockets by the bed not only to charge our devices up, but in my wife's case to power her medical equipment. I had to unplug the bedside lamp so I could power said equipment. We ate Dinner and Breakfast in the hotel, and this was all just about ok with no complaints really. We had 3 courses for a £22 deal for dinner and that was about what the food was worth tbh, gourmet it was not. I've had a similar standard of food at my local Wetherspoons, and if I had not taken part in the £22 deal the bill would have been in excess of £65 ! Breakfast was your usual buffet fair with both hot and cold selections available, my main concern with the hot food that most of it had been under the Hotplate lights for a while and the scrambled eggs and mushrooms were particularly dried out. I would suggest that if the hotel is particularly quiet then hot breakfasts are cooked to order ? We paid a total of just over £100 for the two of us Inc all our food so on paper it was not bad value, the location is in the middle of an industrial estate which seems to be the norm these days for a lot of the more recent hotels so you definitely need a vehicle to use this particular hotel. Would we stay there again ?? For a similar room rate then yes, however for a midweek or Saturday night rate then it...
Read moreReasonably easy to find, and not far from meadowhall/ikea (but without the reviews saying cars had been broken into, which is what made me book here) first impressions: not bad, car park is very poorly lit but the hotel looks clean & tidy. Checking in and the fella on reception was polite and efficient - given a keycard and away we went... to a funsize lift. Up to the floor and quickly found the room - I asked for away from the lift(s) and got at the end next to a stairwell, but it wasn't too bad there were some people using it and the door clumped every time it was used but it didn't carry on too late.
The major issue was the room windows, lovely that they open, more an issue that you could pull them in but they wouldn't actually shut. If it was a typical November it would've been way too cold. The air con unit was fairly noisy - as was the fridge - so both were switched off. Sleep was attained fairly easily (for me it's pillow/head/gone) - the sheffield parkway's traffic was almost a white noise constant drone, europa way traffic petered off into the night but when it came past in the early hours it felt loud and woke me up (I refer this back to the windows not closing properly), there's lots of units also being built around the hotel which starts all sorts of clanging/banging/beeping at not much past 7am - which is out of the hotels control but maybe a little warning on the booking page might have prepared us for the early awakening (again the windows not closing fully made this worse). Maybe also a sticker on the drawer that hides the tea/coffee facilities wouldn't go amiss. In summary: it's ok, has its flaws, staff are great. Would I stay again? Don't think I would, it's not really value for the £99 I was asked to pay for a...
Read moreBooked through Accor under friends & family rate, for a friend for 2 adults. My friend checked in & the hotel took payment in the evening anc everything was fine. My friend left the hotel then came back into the hotel with his girlfriend later on in the night. The night staff questioned him, however as the booking was under my name as I booked it through my heartest account under Friends & Family. They would not let him enter back into his room as it was my name on the booking. Which this would happen as I booked it through friends and family. Initially when I raised this concern with the hotel the member of staff said this should not have happened. The issue got transferred to another staff member , the emails response I received stated a booking under my name would not be allowed for another guest to stay. If this was an issue, the check in process with payment should have not happened earlier on. The email also stated my friends girlfriend walked in the hotel with her hood up. Bearing in mind It was late December & heavy raining. A guest wearing a hood may be considered impolite however it is not against your company policy. Infact mentioning a hood is ridiculous and moving off topic of the error the night staff made by not letting my friend go back to his room late at night. I also did not receive any apology for this mistake and eventually...
