On the positive side, we enjoyed a fun day with the adventure pass, we all enjoyed the lagoon wipeout and all of the staff we encountered were lovely. On the downside, the communications are rubbish - no confirmation emails (and I wasn’t the only one, none of the people I spoke to had received anything), timings were a bit lax (30 minute kayak started 5 minutes late), there weren’t enough arrows for the archery combat, several paths on the high ropes were closed off (broken), and - most importantly - despite the water quality being RED, and being told - after a big warning speech about not staying in the water too long, washing thoroughly afterwards, do not get any in your mouth, etc - by the life guard “if you want to change your mind I wouldn’t blame you” the wipeout still went ahead. My son threw up all over our campervan that night. I know there’s risks in open water, but if the water quality is red…? I have reported it, and they did take it seriously. Of course I can’t prove it came from the lake either, but it seems pretty likely. A shame, because we’d had a fun visit until then.

Very nice water sport center I visited for the Junior British Rowing Championship. The lake/channel is nice and straight but usually it is wavy as even on good weather there seems to be always a bit of wind. There is enough grass area on the side of the lake for parking the cars, the trailers with the boats, the gazebos for the rowing teams and public, and generally for everyone to go around or sit on the ground and watch the races. There are a couple of cafés in the area serving basic snacks, refreshments and some fast food as hot dogs/burgers. There is a foyer area and the building hosting the sport centre allows visitors to rest in the large hallway in front of the cantina and to use the toilets as well.Marcendasing stalls with t-shirts/hoodies/unisuits/caps are also raised on the grounds for the events.

Booked and stayed at the campsite and was looking forward to lots of adventures with our 7 year old son but everything was closed. No mention of this on the campsite booking page. You need to read the information on the Nottingham Council website to discover it only runs April to September at weekends and school holidays. The campsite had nothing apart from a small shop where the woman failed to tell us everything was closed after getting directions and the opening hours advertised on the shop are fictional. Never open in the afternoon. Being completely waterlogged due to the weather, that aside I would never stay there again nor could I recommend it. You can't even get on the foot path without walking across a muddy verge. No thought go into the site.

Unfortunately our holiday wasn't great due to a phone theft from site. Pitches set out was decent enough. Showers - Unfortunately wasn't great as no shower screens so water was all over the floor, made worse as no where to hang jackets, towels etc and only thing provided was a plastic chair to put your things on. Get to the phone theft which has really annoyed me. The phone was stolen from the shower block that was meant to be 'pin locked' we was there for over a week and it wasn't locked once. No security cameras to help or anything so would be aware either someone stays at site and steals or someone is targeting the site as its easy pickings. What was made worse is the phones location was in a property 20 minutes away, was left on until the battery went dead. Police useless as usual considering it was stolen on Friday and still heard nothing back even though details was given of its location. Now the site, two women, the younger one i guess tried to be helpful and empathetic. Had us fill in an incident form and noted she would see if anyone has been on site and checked off on the day and lived around the said location 20 minutes away. (GDPR) I know we couldn't have the info but the police could, we didn't hear anything back. She said she would contact duty manager to see if she could ring potentially said person or what she could do, again heard nothing back in the end. Tried to send an email to get the duty manager to give me a ring to discuss but again absolutely nothing. The older women - i went into reception 3 times to follow up see if I could get assistance also other family members went in and noted the theft. She didn't seem bothered and upon my final return to the reception said she hadn't a clue about the theft. She knew, just clearly didn't give to flying *. Overall not a bad location if you like alot of nature walking etc. The day pass for the activities was tremendous and great value for money we thought. Due to site security or little of we don't think our belongings would be safe (as you expect it being everyone is doing the same thing and we've found most people in tents and caravans friendly) so I doubt we would be returning to use the site again. I saw a security officer in the reception once since we was there never saw them do patrols etc once. Maybe an investment in cameras would be helpful and actually lock the pin coded doors so nothing like this...

Location is good really peaceful and nice relaxing scenery great for long walks in the sun and watching out the window when in the gym facilities and hotel rooms are also decent clean and tidy only minor issue with room was it had a broken loo as it kept clogging up and overall when i was placed here by the council due to being homeless through fleeing dv throughout my time in this hotel i was treated unfairly compared to other people by the staff here and was made to feel like an inconvenience and nuisance just as an unpredicted safeguarding incident happened to me by a staff member from the gym that made me uncomfortable and distressed me and as reporting the matter to reception the staff were uninterested and not patient enough to allow the chance for me to explain the whole situation further and did not take it seriously were very dismissive even though they were not busy at the time they did not believe me they could not wait until i left the counter despite being aware of my disabilities and mental health distress i was in they did not care all i was told was that they would ask the manager to look into it but nothing was actually done about the incident as i did not hear any info from the manager upon departure and in the end staff told me that they will no longer be accepting bookings under my name so was also blacklisted from being allowed to use this hotel anymore despite having done nothing wrong at all how i was innocent throughout the whole time and this is the treatment i get from a public facility.

My advice is is if you have autism or any disabilities or mental health conditions in general and if you are also an lgbtqia individual on top i would not recommend this hotel to be safe to any of these backgrounds the staff are not inclusive and are hostile i will certainly not be...

Stayed on the camping site.

Liked: The overall site was lovely, very spacious and nice lush grass, different areas, shop and park. It was very busy with families enjoying time together, playing music, games and eating. Everyone followed the rules of the evening and quieten down by 9.30/10pm. The park was close to the water sports centre, and we had plenty to do to keep the kids entertained. You can also wash and dry clothes for £2+, handy if you forget to pack extra bits for mucky accident prone little legs. Play park on site. And super quick access to a supermarket and takeaway places. Highly recommend dough n buns in West Bridgeford for pizza - easy to order online and 3 mins drive to collect.

Disliked: The pitches were not easily identified, the numbers were not on the posts. These could do with relabelling. The toilets - overall not terrible but not amazing either. I was there 3 nights and only saw the cleaners once (during super busy times I feel the cleaners need to be about daily) after they had been the toilets/showers were much better. However, I do think it’s wrong that people assume the cleaners are there to clean up after them, if you drop a piece on tissue on the floor at home you pick it up and bin it, if you your sanitary items accidentally miss the bin, you don’t leave them, you pick them up, pop them in the bin. Some of the toilet/shower issues could have been better if people just spent a little longer making sure they did not leave a mess behind them - granted, a lot of kids used the toilet’s unsupervised. Many have said about an extra toilet block - one down the far end would be handy, especially for those late night...
