WILL NOT USE AGAIN I have been booking this hotel for our trainees since September and the hotel had a lot of business put there way from our company but there attitude is terrible and they will not accept a complaint from me as I am complaining on my colleagues behalf. Our Head of HR stayed there on one of the nights in question and has tried to complain and they won't speak to her either. There were various issues but the attitude of the reception and restaurant staff was totally unacceptable. We book accommodation with a meal allowance for out employees and they were told by restaurant staff that if they didn't use there whole allowance the remaining money would not be refunded to our company but used for the Premier Inn staff christmas party.
Also, one of our trainees had the following issue: "The quality of food was consistently poor, especially on the Monday evening when I ordered a half rack of ribs and chicken. The ribs were so dry, that they were unfortunately inedible and small. I received just a tail end of the ribs and the chicken could not be cut with a knife. Unfortunately, nothing else was remotely fresh on my plate so nothing was eaten.
I highlighted my meal to the restaurant Manager who's name was Emma. She advised that the Ribs are cut in half to what ever size they come and she would not exchange my meal "you're not paying for" and walked off.
After this the staff were very unprofessional with us and gave us poor, slow, sarcastic service and would huff at us if we asked for any condiments or extra drinks."
Our accommodation costs for our trainees alone that week were over £2.5K, never mind anyone else staying from our business and you won't acknowledge our complaint. I will therefor not be using this hotel again even though it is very conveniently placed to our...
Read moreStayed here for work for just one night—which, in my opinion, was plenty.
Let’s start with the positives: the staff were friendly and did their best to make guests comfortable. The shower had excellent water pressure, which is great if you enjoy the sensation of being power-washed in the morning.
Now, onto everything else.
The dinner menu was so limited I thought I was being pranked. The continental breakfast was equally uninspiring—a fruit bowl featuring a sad collection of green apples and two bananas that looked like they had lived through a world war. Suffice to say, my stomach spent the rest of the day playing Russian roulette.
The rooms? A throwback to an era I don’t recall fondly. Positioned right next to a roaring A-road, the soundtrack of my stay was essentially “Live Traffic Updates, Vol. 1.” The television was smaller than my laptop screen, and WiFi was an extra £5—a nostalgic nod to the early 2000s when we paid for internet by the minute. If you plan to stay here, bring earplugs, unlimited mobile data, and a good imagination, because watching the cars go by will be your primary source of entertainment.
The bar had no beers on tap and a bottle selection so uninspired it made a motorway service station look like a Michelin-starred venue. No bar snacks either, meaning you’re left with the overpriced vending machine in the lobby, where £2 buys you the privilege of eating crisps that taste like disappointment.
Now, I get it. I’ve stayed in my fair share of Premier Inns, and I know these out-of-the-way hotels don’t always get the love they deserve. But charging £108 a night for this? That’s daylight robbery. At least Dick Turpin had the courtesy to wear a mask.
Would I stay here again? Only if my other option was sleeping in my car—and even then, I’d have to...
Read moreWorst Premier Inn experience. Checked in, all fine room recently renovated and seemed ok. However it was 26 degrees outside and the room had heated up during the day, so naturally we tried to turn the air con on. Windows in room are sealed and do not open. Air con unit had error message and so we reported to reception, who were not aware of the problem so rung her manager (no issue with the receptionist she was lovely) The receptionist came back to our room to confirm they'd turned the air con off throughout the hotel because they had problems completing the renovation with it on. She offered to find us a desk fan but there were none available. We couldn't stay in the room any longer without a source of air flow, as we were travelling with a small child (and we actually value sleep). The receptionist was 'unable' to book us into an alternative Premier Inn locally, so we did this ourselves via the website and had to pay out again. At the time of our booking this hotel was advertised as having air con, but this has since been removed from their website. There also seem to be increasing numbers of suspicious, single contributor five star reviews on trip advisor - some may say to bump up the ratings... Premier Inn did refund the original stay at Tamworth South but not our subsequent booking as this was the additional sum we were out of pocket. They claim this hotel never advertised to have air con, I don't see why you would seal windows of a hotel that didn't. And looking back at previous reviews there is history in rooms.
Definitely recommend this Premier Inn is avoided, shame really as the location is useful. The customer service from PI also left a lot...
