Staff were lovely and welcoming. The room was suitable for us with just a few small issues. We have stayed here before and found the wheelchair access to be good:|- Level access and automatic doors at the entrance|- easy disabled parking right outside|- Two lifts (which is always good in case one breaks down)|- evacuation protocols were followed|- Lifts were large enough to take a power wheelchair|- Plenty of space to manoeuvre the wheelchair in the bedroom, making access easy for a standing transfer to the bed|- the bed was a good height for a standing transfer|- there were grab rails in the bathroom, although not really in a suitable position for my husband. We took our own suction grab rails but they wouldn't stick to the walls as the tiles weren't suitable for them|- we took a non-slip bathmat as we knew from previous experience at this hotel that the floor is very slippery and is a hazard for someone with poor mobility. Despite our bathmat my husband did slip over because it wasn't big enough but, luckily, landed on the pull-down seat. Next time we will take 2 non-slip bathmats as one wasn't enough for us. IT WOULD BE A REASONABLE ADJUSTMENT FOR THE HOTEL TO PROVIDE THESE FOR DISABLED GUESTS. We checked at Reception but were told the hotel don't provide them at the moment. Hopefully this is something they will consider.|- The table and chair in the room got in the way of the wheelchair and were heavy for me to move out of the way. We took our own collapsable small table for next to the bed for my husband's use.|- access to the restaurant was excellent. Unfortunately our meal on our first night wasn't good. I left most of mine. We didnt' eat there for the rest of our stay. We did have breakfast on our first morning but, again, decided not to do so for the remaining stay. I've seen other good reviews for the food though so maybe we were just unlucky.|- we had a fridge in our room and that was a great help to us. |- there was a bus service to Oxford nearby and we enjoyed a day there|We like this hotel and will be back again. The staff are lovely. We find it difficult to find hotels with facilities that are suitable for my husband's disability but this one has been a...
Read moreIt was my first stay at a courtyard ever. A member of the Marriott Bonvoy program for a number of years, but not had a chance to stay in a courtyard
First impressions, the building looked brand-new, and I was then informed it was built in 2016 - It’s very well maintained and looks crisp clean
Check in I was greeted with a warm smile, professional attitude, and very helpful staff who efficiently checked me into my room. I was checked in by Amal - really impressed with his approach and care
Rooms I had 4 to 3 allocated to me, which was a standard room. The rooms are very clean and well maintained for the age of the Hotel and a crisply designed. The bed was huge and super comfortable. I had a great night sleep great duvet and a very comfortable bathroom as well. Couldn’t fault anything
Breakfast Dan the chef was responsible for a high standard of a buffet that just works so well. I love well done bacon and the bacon was cooked just perfect - crispy / brown - well done Dan ! I think a lot of your sister hotels like delta In the Bonvoy Marriott group should take note of the way that you do things here
So breakfast was great on so many levels - While it was the standard offering for a Marriott hotel of this class, What made the difference in addition to Dan’s cooking were the team on the ground - super impressed with Lupe Blanco, Lolanta and Kamila Who delivered outstanding, warm caring service at a time where Breakfast was full Of a coach load of guests. I arrived at the busiest time of the morning with every single table occupied, but the team were extremely accommodating. Polite kept their cool and did not show any levels of stress. Lupe is a great host
Highly rate, the Breakfast, highly rate, the service and ambience and options on offer.
Car parking is complimentary - The hotel on the hospitality comes highly recommended, and I would definitely...
Read moreFinishing up a two week stay here. It's about everything you would expect from a brand new hotel - all the furnishings and rooms are quite nice. The bar/restaurant area is aesthetically appealing, same goes for the in-room washrooms/fitness area etc. However, like many new hotels, there are several kinks that need to be worked out and I'm sure they will be with time.
I was impressed with the quality of food at the restaurant. Unfortunately the service is lacking. I do not think this is a result of anyone in particular, it's just that it seems there hasn't been an adequate level of training provided. Also, on some nights they have been understaffed, which is strange for a brand new bar/restaurant. Several times I had my main dish come out before my beverage and I have had to ask numerous times to have the beverage brought out. More often than not, it was more efficient to go get the beverage at the bar yourself and bring it back to the table. The few times I dined with someone else, the times at which our apps/mains/drinks were brought out were sporadic. On a couple of occasions, my colleague would have his main finished before mine was brought out. Last night, they had no soda in cans or bottles and could only offer Pepsi being poured from a 2L bottle.
The reception staff are all very nice and well-meaning. I was particularly impressed by a young gentleman named Owen; very approachable and willing to help. In terms of the room, almost everything was satisfactory. It did lack a bit of clothes storage (drawers, cabinets, etc). There is a beautiful 55" TV on the wall that is equipped with Chromecast. Unfortunately, despite many nights of troubleshooting, I could never get it to connect to my device. These are minor issues that I'm sure will be worked out.
I will be back again sometime in the New Year and I look forward to seeing the improvements that...
