This place is a hidden gem. I took my family here for my birthday. Having seen that they use sandy and black pork, a local heritage breed, I desperately wanted to try this place. We booked in for a Sunday roast.

All my family went for the same, a pork roast. My family can be a bit picky with their meals, and each had instructions - one with just peas and carrots, one with gravy on the side rather than on the plate, one with no kale - then my husband and me both just had it as it came! The kitchen managed to deliver the perfect roast for each of my family (not a small feat!!) And everyone of them was extremely happy. My mum is a difficult one to please, as she has to have her food blisteringly hot - luckily the plate was red hot, and the steam coming off it made my mum an extremely happy diner. The staff even catered for my request for extra potatoes for the table.

This was the best pub roast we've had out. Usually pub roasts don't have the best potatoes, but these were beautifully roasted. The pork was next to none, perfectly cooked and succulent. I did want to take photographs of the pork roast to put with my review, as I noticed there was currently no photo of it here. Sadly, I dived in and ate it all before I had even thought about it! I'm so sorry fellow review readers! It was too good!

Thank you to all the staff who made my birthday a very special day indeed.

For those wanting to go: The atmosphere is lovely. The back of the pub is bright and open. This can mean it can be a little noisy at times, but we found it fine. The pub is dog friendly, which we loved. I luckily had a pocket of dog treats to dole out to happy puppies across the pub! Food waiting times were a little long, but it was worth the wait and it didn't bother us at all - we were happy chatting. Some may be a little less happy with the wait if they're in a rush though... But good...

My partner and I, along with some family, stayed at the Plum Pudding in September 2023 whilst attending a wedding nearby. The rooms were fantastic and the best rooms I've stayed in within a pub.

Our room was clean, and fresh, and looked new. The en suite bathroom was a good size, excellent powerful shower, with toiletries too. The bed was comfortable and of good quality.

There was a kettle, coffee machine and mini fridge in the room, which was stocked with items for a continental breakfast including croissants, cheeses, fruit, fresh milk, orange juice, bottled still and sparkling water, and a selection of sliced meats which was a superb touch.

A brilliant location for us, but also a lovely area. We have eaten at the Plum Pudding previously with family and the food and service was fantastic, though we didn't eat on this occasion.

There is also a separate entrance to the rooms, and so returning after the pub closed was not an issue. All the staff we encountered were very friendly, including the brunette lady cleaning the rooms in the morning, asking us how our stay was.

It was incredibly hot weather during our stay due to the 30°C heatwave, but we had fans in the room, and the staff did what they could to keep the rooms cool prior to our arrival, and despite the heat we slept very well.

Overall, a fabulous place to stay, and we would highly recommend to those...

Many of my colleagues live near by and with me being the furthest away, I travel up from Bristol for the odd lunch or company get together.

Last occasion of going there was in October ‘24 when we saw one of my team off on maternity leave. The meal came to around £105.00 and as I was leaving early to travel back home, I went to the bar and requested to pay £80.00 of the bill leaving everyone to put in a fiver each of the remaining due.

When I got home I noticed that I had been charged £96.00. My team confirmed that they paid the remaining £25.00.

I emailed then called to query why I was charged an additional £16.00. The initial response provided was that they suspected that I had paid £80.00 plus I had requested to pay £16.00 tip???The manager confirmed that he would look at the cctv that covers the tills and also ask his staff. He confirmed that he would come back to me.

Never did hear from them again. Principles in mind, I won't be returning which is a big shame as I did enjoy going there. Would advise everyone to request a printed receipt if you go there when...

What a delight, bathrooms are modern and lovely ( only thing I would change is shower gel instead of those annoying little soaps) Bedding was smart and comfortable. A coffee pod machine and pods provided (amazing) great breakfast of yoghurt , cold meats , croissants , cereal , cheese and best of all a decent amount of milk and not those ridiculous milk pods) Probly the best B and B we have ever stayed at. Very thoughtfully laid out. Even a little shelf for your cell phone with plug next to your bed. I would definitely recommend this place , well done for thinking of your guests.

We stopped in for lunch and drinks, and absolutely loved it. The food was proper pub food, well cooked and presented, without the current trend of inflated price and half portions. It was like eating home cooked food from that relative that can really cook, when was the last time you saw Welsh rare bit on a menu, anywhere? It's a really cozy pub and then out back is a modern conservatory and a beautiful little garden. Sitting out there in the sun, walled off from the outside world it's calm and peaceful. This pub is definitely the hidden gem of the entire area.

Lovely roast on Sundays, friendly staff and doggy & baby friendly! There was the offer of different roasts and for those who didn’t fancy a roast, a bar snack menu and non-roast mains. We paid £15 for the roast beef but it was beautifully cooked with loads of sides and a plateful of food which I couldn’t manage to finish off. We skipped pudding because of time but were tempted by the choice on offer. Parking can be an issue outside but there are plenty of roads nearby to park. The staff were really attentive and the landlady made us feel very welcome.
