Firstly I must say the staff at this hotel were amazing, really welcoming, friendly and efficient, a great asset to the hotel. We had a lovely stay but we must mention a few things to give a true account. This was a lovely old manor house which has been turned into a 3 star hotel with impressive drive, good location and potential. We had 4 rooms for 2 nights in the main house Back in its hey day I'm sure it was a great place to stay loads of character and old world charm but now its tired, needs work and some TLC, both inside and out. Showers were hit & miss took ages to get warm and water pressure was at times really poor. Lighting in bedrooms wasn't great, some found beds uncomfortable and housekeeping definitely need to be more attentive. The hotel has loads of potential but needs a re-fit/makeover maybe with original features being restored. We were told it had recently been taken over and they have plans to extend number of rooms and to build leisure facilities. So watch this space. Even with the above mentioned downsides we would stay again it's a lovely old place, staff were so friendly and food looked and tasted great.

A place of two halfs. First the staff are pleasant and helpful, then there's the food, not a large menu but the food is really good, it made our short stay enjoyable. The hotel, not sure who owns it but it is in need of some money being spent on it. Could only get in a mews room, not sure if they had all the hotel open. This was very tired, room was musty when we entered, carpet in need of a good clean or changing. Smaller then the impression given by the picture's on line. Nice little touch, a litre bottle of water in the room plus the normal tea/coffee making facilities. Hanging space good, iron and hangers. Bathroom, not a bad size but tired, again in need of refurbishing, plenty of hot water, shower though old worked ok. Normal shampoo and soap, only One toilet roll. What was nice was the towels, thick and fluffy and a face flannel. Heating worked well. Nice garden space with some animals for the children. Take a stroll through the woods. Be prepared for the background noise of the A14. Would I go back, only for the restaurant, Don't change the chef.

We booked Ravenwood Hall for our wedding reception venue in May. The venue itself looked lovely, we used the Pavillion for our wedding breakfast which easily seated all of our guests. The main hotel had been recently renovated which was great, the Pavillion could do with a little bit of touching up but overall it looked good. The food served for our wedding breakfast was all very tasty (both meat and vegetarian options) and all came out hot which was great. Our wedding day ran very smoothly however, the communication running up to the wedding was very limited and there was quite a bit of miss-communication when speaking with the head office. The wedding team seemed to change every few months as we spoke with multiple different people, but Sean, who now seems to be leading the team, was very helpful and got everything back on track before our big day. All the rooms our guests stayed in were great and it was a nice touch that we could all have breakfast together the next day. Overall we’d definitely recommend Ravenwood Hall!

delighted by the makeover.||We had booked in for Sunday lunch and an overnight stay with our two little dogs.||I would like to offer our observations herewith rather than on social media:|||No remote for TV. When I went to the hotel around 5pm to find someone there was nobody about nor the means to contact someone (no bell at reception) so I had to wander from room to room shouting to make myself heard. A bell needs to be installed at reception.||We couldn't call from our room as the phone didn't work nor was there any WiFi in the room.||Later a remote was provided but due to no WiFi we were unable to get the TV to work.||No food after 6pm.? We found this very inconvenient. This is a high quality "Hotel" establishment and not to serve paying guests staying with you some kind of light bar snacks (room service menu) has never in 30 years of staying in hotels happened to us before. Having taken lunch at 2pm by 7pm we were in need of something.||In the year 2025 in such a "luxury" establishment, leaving Nescafé in bedrooms is so not acceptable. Coffee bags are easily and economically purchased on bulk, Nescafé is not coffee.||Missing bulbs in bedroom and outside lights immediately outside our room (3). A minor attention to detail.||No umbrella in room. Providing rooms where guests need to walk outside to enter the main building, branded umbrellas are a must, these can be mentioned in the welcome folder as many do for toiletries now, "if not left in room when vacated will be charged for".||Our lunch though pleasant, was served with|a poor selection of tepid vegetables with no serving spoons nor with the horseradish sauce. The beef whilst acceptable was not the tastiest.||After an evening drink in the bar we decided to sit under the vines to read. The staff saw us sit there but no lights were turned on for us under the vines which would have made the evening quite special.||It was noticed that the pool sides and bottom were very dirty so wouldn't have used.||To not serve cafetiere coffee at breakfast or after a meal was poor also.||Finally, never have we been charged a supplement for ham or salmon at breakfast, we were very disappointed at this.||Please accept our comments as constructive, as a provider of accommodation for many years we felt let down by these items, from what was otherwise a...

My family's experience of Ravenswood Hall Hotel for Christmas Lunch was a shambles beyond Faulty Towers!

Arriving at the hotel we found ourselves parked in a field called a 'Car Park' which meant we had to trudge through mud in our best clothes and shoes to get to the restaurant.

Or table was booked for 2pm but we were asked to order drinks before seating. Drinks arrived in dirty glasses and while we waited we observed complaints from other customers being addressed to the manager. We were seated at 2:30 (without our drinks arriving) at a table without any condiments or being offered a just of water. The tables glasses were dirty and no allergies checked by the waiter when we ordered our meal.

Starters finally arrived and the soup was cold on top and hot on the bottom accompanied with stale bread. Our two children and other members of our party do not eat fish, however, this was placed in front of them. We tried to explain to the waiter, however, we could not speak English and no alternatives were offered.

Whilst waiting for our main course, we witnessed a small group of customers express their anger and bitterly complained about the service and food. Although vegetarians, they were served meat dishes with no checks having been made for their dietary requirements,

Our main course of 'tepid' roast turkey was served sporadically on plates, i.e. some plates had an adequate serving whilst others did not. Vegetable servings were both overcooked and in some cases frozen! At this point, we were STILL waiting for our drinks! We ended up making several trips to the bar and back with our own tray.

Desert consisted of a Christmas pudding which could easily bounce across the table without any addition of cream of custard. Waiting staff were more concerned with collected 'non snapped' crackers than serving customers.

The total lack of atmosphere was greatly disappointing, e.g. unlit fires and I really felt for our children as this was supposed to be such a wonderful day.

At £100 per head for 6 people, we were offered no compensation. All in all a disastrous experience and consequently I cannot recommend the Hotel or Restaurant to any prospective customers.

In this instance, the hotel was run-down, over-priced and...

Absolutely filthy .We complained whilst there we complained before we checked out both of which we were told management would get back to us yesterday which never happened. I sent an email last night but still no one has got back to us .Our room was damp and mouldy the walls were full of mould as was the doors and windows I have sent over images of the filthy room and mould. Had we not of had arrangements close by we would of left .The shower curtain was covered in poo .Marks all over the carpet .The pillows were lumpy and old with stains all over .The restaurant carpet was filthy with food all over the floor with marks the table was covered in salt .The food was crazy expensive yet very basic .I was poorly after eating at the restaurant. I was also insulted by a member of staff for drinking cola instead of alcohol. The winding stairs outside to our room was iced over and extremely dangerous. The service at the restaurant was not great we had to keep asking for drink top ups .Plates were left on our table for a good 25 mins .I had to keep getting up to let people get out for the loo on the table next to us as the lay out was all wrong. We came away to rest and have a break as we have a disabled child we didn't sleep as loud music was playing next door which was shaking our room when it finally finished at mid night it wasn't until nearly 1am until drunk people leaving were screaming and shouting. Then all we could hear the water heater all night on and of. Had these matters of been addressed and we have given 3 chances which I think is fair then we would have given more stars as we did enjoy breakfast the breakfast staff were very good .I also enjoyed how festive the main building felt with the fire places and Christmas tree .When we complained we were told they thought we were party guests but you knew we were not as you knew we had a meal booked at the restaurant we couldn't be in 2...
