Booked this Econo Lodge through Priceline, $79 for a room with two beds. Ended up being like $90 after taxes. Then they have you deposit $50, so just know you might pay more initially than expected. We were in Room 165, and checked in around 6pm. Checked out at 9:30 the next morning. If you're looking to stay here for just one night, I'd say it's okay. Wouldn't recommend booking a long stay though. Sidenote: Seems there's some toxic management here. The guy checking us out got a phone call from someone up the chain who said he wasn't supposed to be checking people out. The guy at the desk retorted the person on the phone complained when he was checking rooms. Just seems like management doesn't care for their employees, or their customers. Pros: • Free bottle of water and chips given upon check-in. • Room looked decent. • Free wifi (password on envelope your key card is in, desk person didn't tell us), fridge, microwave, coffee maker. • TV worked fine. Lamps were pleasant, though a little dim. • Parking area fairly well-lit at night. • Water gets plenty hot. Cons: • The trashcan outside had such a stench, it must have not been emptied for at least two weeks. Flies were buzzing around it as we approached the unit. • AC unit was off, room was stuffy upon entry. •Four dead roaches, and some dead flies were just lying on the floor when we came in. • After turning the AC to 70 on high, and leaving to visit family for several hours, the room was still stuffy when we came back. • Had to sleep on top of covers due to the stuffiness. At 5am the AC finally had cooled the room enough for me to get under the covers. • Coffee maker did not actually work. • Fridge will cool your drinks, but they were not really that cold. • Tub was grungy and drained very slowly.

When looking for a place to stay in Abilene, Texas and there's a rodeo going on you should always take into consideration the wise words of Pete Rodriguez, "If you lower your expectation you're never disappointed" and staying at the Econo Lodge Inn and Suites one should never be concerned when you arrive at night time because it's not very well lit and you don't see what you're getting yourself into. Having just bought new wheels and tires for my wife for I was somewhat concerned by the lack of lighting in the parking lot. But as I woke up every hour on the hour to check her vehicle I felt safer when I saw that we were getting closer to daylight and the wheels were still on the car. One of the first things I noticed when I woke up in the morning was how comfortably I slept on this amazingly soft but thick pillow. I didn't even notice that I had my pistol under my pillow all night just in case someone came through our door. The mattress was super comfortable too, as I went to bed fully dressed just in case we had to escape quickly. Upon arrival we were given one bottle of water and a snack sized bag of Lay's. We ended up leaving a night early from this location due to the pool having possible crocodiles in it.

I love the Econo Lodge here in Abilene. I stayed here a few times whenever I travel down the I-20; I make sure I stop here instead of overpriced Dallas. The rooms are spacious. The place smelled of fresh disinfectant--It was surprisingly well cleaned. I'm able to pull out my laptop and take care of my business because the room is spacious well lit ,quiet. You can see from all the trucks in the parking lot This is a working man's motel. The local bars, restaurants barbecue, and a few sites, Make this a great location for me to stop. I'm interested local guide so I'mma have to keep it real, there was a cockroach under my air conditioner still kicking. It was moving slow probably had a dose. That shows me they care. And I wouldn't be troubled if I seen a dozen of them because the positive amenities and an incredible service and great price, outweigh any negative aspects. This is a great value --I'll continue to spend money here happily. Thanks choice hotel app & Econolodge staff. They always go to extra mile! Another great stay.šŸ‘ŠšŸæšŸ˜ŽšŸ‘šŸæ

I admire the owner and family of this place; kind people, spiritual and intelligent. I DO NOT recommend staying here due to the checkout fiasco, along with the loss of a $50 dollar deposit due to dirty towels.

My checkout took over 30 minutes as staff examined my room. I was told there was "damage" to the towels. I explained that the staff was right. There were towels that were dirty. I had traced oily water into the room from their parking lot, which is stained and not clean, and it had been raining, so the entire parking lot was soaked. Hence dirty footprints.

The room was generally clean and neat. Stains around baseboards and such along with cigarette burns on the tables already there. Had I known there was post room inspection, I would have insisted upon a pre-inspection to ensure I wasn't charged for events not under my control.

I did not want the oil to set on the gray, laminate floor, so I used towels to wipe up traces of oily water. I explained I was willing to pay for the towels. Crazily, a simple rinse would have taken out the dirty water look.

$50 was not worth 4 towels, and I asked how much... there was a debate... really?

Last I heard, washing them and using bleach didn't cost $50 for 4 towels. Replacing them doesn't cost $50.

I left because they had to discuss how much to charge me for cleaning towels; isn't this part of hotel service in the United States of America?

And, again, I was willing to pay a reasonable amount... not $50 to replace 4 towels.

I was angry. It was ridiculous. 30 minutes to check out of a room and to be charged $50 in cash unrecoverable for 4 towels? I could have run to Walmart and bought them a replacement set for less.

What shame. Again, nice people. Don't stay.

I do want to thank the maintenance supervisor and cleaning gentlemen who helped me locate and care for a stray cat. The cat saw a vet and now has a...

Stayed aug 24 through aug 30 and this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at!! I don’t leave reviews unless it’s really good or really bad and this place is the worst. The owner and the people behind the counter are rude thieves. The rooms are nasty and they will tell you they have Apple Pay to get you to leave a $100 dollar deposit and then when you get there there is no Apple Pay and they are going to keep your deposit because you reserved a room for a week. Then I managed to find a way to pay and the room we asked for that they promised us is not available because they gave it to someone else… The room we got was nasty I don’t know what color the floor was originally but now it’s dark grey there was dried blood on the wall and getting someone to clean our room was impossible. We even gave one of the cleaning ladies $5 two times and she didn’t clean it didn’t even change the sheets just made the bed with the dirty sheets. Could not get fresh towels the closet was always locked. There is absolutely no parking at all cars can barely drive in and out crickets kept coming in our room under the door. The cleaning ladies seemed nice and I feel bad for them having to work for the rude owner. But the people behind the counter and the management are shady af! I’m still trying to get my deposit back! First they said they gave it back and they voided the transaction on their end and said it was my bank, it wasn’t. Now they are saying they don’t even have my card on file when the charge is on my statement. They sneeringly told me I have to talk to my bank because they are not giving me my deposit back so that’s what I’m doing. I am having to file a dispute after giving them multiple chances to do the right thing. DO NOT STAY HERE if you didn’t get that from the review. It is the worst waste of money you will ever spend! Spend a little more and stay...
