Our most significant issues with your establishment were not the looks of the hotel but the staff, management, safety, and apparent health standards of the establishment. We felt this hotel was not the safest to stay at for several reasons. Other guests were heard complaining about the same issues.
The main entrance doors open instead of opening up for guests when walking up to the door. The side door under the parking area says that guests need a keycard to access the building. Every time we accessed the door through this door, it was unlocked, allowing anyone to come in and enter the hotel from both doors at either time. As mentioned during a phone conversation, the cleaning staff changed our settings for the heating and airing. Controlling the temperature in the rooms is a manual process, and we would not have changed it to heat after making a complaint about the air that you ignored. We were not offered to switch rooms for this complaint. We were told, "not all rooms have air". When we experienced more than one room with working air, just not the one we were staying in. It was unbearable to stay in this room, but a need since we could not find another hotel within our budget. With this, we did not trust that the hotel staff did not take anything from our room. Additionally, in room 317, we did not see a sign saying we would not like our room to be cleaned. There is one working elevator, with seven floors. But not only that, the fact is that the elevator would move before the doors fully closed.
We booked two non-cancelation rooms in late December to lock in our hotel pricing because of how expensive other hotels were for the weekend we stayed. We booked this hotel solely based on looks and the fact that there were enough rooms available to accommodate all seven of us, more if needed. At the point of arrival, we looked at booking another hotel but looking at the prices, we knew we could not change our situation due to the prices and the limited number of rooms they had available.
Other areas of concern: There was a nail sticking out of the siding in the hallway, which caught the corner of one of our shirts, luckily it did not catch any skin because that would have been bad. In room 317, there were missing ceiling tiles above the closet area. In room 317, there were cracks in the shower wall. Light fixtures are broken above the elevator. Every room had broken curtains that had terrible stains on them. The outlets in the room did not allow us to charge anything, as every time something was plugged in, the wire would fall out. In the parking area, there are open ceiling tiles with leaks. There are no caution signs either. A roach was found in room 316. When we expressed this to the front desk person, they did not seem to care just merely offered us a new room. We switched to the new space, and then the employee called the room and let us know he was coming up. He came, asked for the keys to room 316, and then went in there mask on, with a can of roach killer, did not ask us where the roach was. We felt like it was a known problem, and they knew where it was when we never told him. At least in 317, there was moldy old food under the beds. The mattress sunk into the box springs.
In conclusion, we had a horrible experience all around. This experience has resulted in us deciding never to use any facilities associated with "Wyndham." It is clear you do not care about those who use your facilities, provide customers with false advertisements and information, and have employees who could care less about the guests and make them feel like they are only there to earn a paycheck. It is beyond us how you can allow people to stay in a place that has health concerns and does not feel up to...
Read moreUpon getting to the location, I was suprised how dirty the location was. There was trash on the ground and dumpsters and trashcan over flowing with trash. We walked in through the side door that was for guests who had already checked in and had a hotel key card. That door was not secure. Got to the desk and the gentleman at the reception was a little brief. Handed us the hotel card and we went to the two elevators. Next to elevator is non-working water fountain, a seating area with brochures. The couches are too worn out to be in the hotel and the brochures where scattered all over the table. It stayed like that our two night stay. Get to our floor and we noticed the rugs have not been vacuumed in quite a while. The furniture and glass windows in the hallway where all filthy and dusty. We walked into the room and noticed appliances were dusty. I went out and asked the cleaner about cleaning agents to clean the room. He asked what I wanted.. I said windex and a disinfectant. He handed me a bottle and says this is all we use. "That's it.. One bottle? Can I have a set of gloves? " he didn't have any gloves to give me. We made small conversation, I cleaned the room and bathroom. And for the first time I had wished I had carried my own bedsheets. There were holes in the duvet. Sheets were okay, shower curtains dirty. The room after a good cleaning wasn't bad. My friend asked if our hallway could be vacuumed. The old man went to pick up a vacuum which we assume has not been used in a long while. Only our front door was cleaned. The rest of the hallway was still messy. It also had a odor /funny smell.
Following morning we went for breakfast. It was simply 3 choices of cereal with milk, bagels, pasteries, sausages and eggs (carton egg), fruit, tea and coffee. The waffle maker seemed to be a favorite. The juice machine needed a refill but was not refilled hence the juice tasted like extremely watered down syrup. The breakfast area is a little small for the number of guests that were there . Chairs were worn out, we had a very wabbly table. Windows again in this area was dusty and cloudy, broken wall base panels visible.
The welcome across from breakfast area has a seating area, tv screen and an ATM machine that has an out of order sign pasted on it.
The hotel is running on a skeleton crew. Two older couple house keepers for the whole area . As lovely as the couple is, one cannot expect them to get all rooms completed with the high quality care each room needs. Two- three ladies manning the breakfast area .
When it was time to check out, we got down to reception desk (same guy who checked us in). The gentleman was on the phone while completing our check-out and then says "you are ok". You already paid. No "how was your stay?...." we just walked out and talked about how the very little details they are ignoring could make the...
Read moreThe staff were lovely. But, hotel is not well maintained or cleaned. (Scroll down to real full review. Details included!)
Elevator lobbies on every room floor had debris, trash & dirt. They look like they have not been swept or mopped for weeks/months. The sofas and chairs in these lobbies were threadbare and stained. The hallway carpeting was filthy and stained in areas. Some places, such as near the ice/vending alcoves, had multiple layers of stains. (Should have taken pictures of those lobbies and their furniture or the carpeting but didn't think to do so.)
In our room, the tub had actual dirt as if dirty shoes were rinsed off but the tub was not cleaned after. There was some kind of glue or adhesive spotted on the bowl of the sink. I wondered if anyone bothered to even try removing it with acetone or something. Walls and doors had dried and obvious aged dirt on them. I had to know so I took a moist washcloth to some places and they cleaned up easily enough. Clearly, they just are not cleaning the rooms. Even the brass plate on the bathroom door (around the door handle) was covered in so many fingerprints and smudges that it was filthy. The bedside lamp and wall behind it had weeks of dust on them. All of this makes me wonder when the last time the room had been cleaned beyond changing sheets & towels. (The linens did appear to be clean.) Oh, and the bedside table was badly damaged with no attempt to repair or remediate the damage.
As for amenities, there were ice machines on each of the six room floors but only TWO functioned at all. The soda machines all appeared to be working but at $2.00 for a bottle of water, it's understandable why.
The breakfast area was the one positive. The serving area was clean and well attended to. There was plenty food and each kept at the right temperatures. Sadly, the coffee/tea area was packed up sometime after breakfast was done so if you wanted a hot beverage later, there was none.
The biggest disappointment is the handicapped bathroom. The accessibility of the room, itself, was great! No problem getting my power chair into the room and plenty space to maneuver, even in the bathroom. However, the toilet was supposed to be raised height; it was not. It was low-standard height which made for painful transitions onto and off the the toilet. The shower was supposed to be a walk in shower; it was not. It was a tub which is difficult to get into when you're handicapped. The shower was supposed to have an adjustable, hand-held shower head; it did not. Lastly, there was supposed to be a shower seat; there was none. (Fortunately, I bring my own.)
It was not the worst place I've ever stayed but it is definitely not the three star place it was advertised to be. The cleanliness alone drops it down to...
