The good: Staff was very friendly and courteous. Bed was comfortable. Room spacious. AC worked well at keeping room cool. The windows opened ( although too loud to enjoy that).
The bad: Location right off the highway at a busy truck stop was incredibly loud. Highway traffic and semi-truck noise off the front, truck parking for overnight sleeping at one end, more truck traffic due to the fuel tanks at the other side…the windows did a decent job of filtering the noise, but the windows were openable (which anymore is a treat in a hotel!) which allowed the noise right in. Too bad since it would’ve have been lovely to enjoy the cool Minnesota air. Everything seemed to have a fine layer of dinginess that paint can’t cover up. It’s a hotel that has seen many travelers and is showing wear around the edges. Needs a deep clean, and some updates. Wallpaper was peeling in corners and along some edges. The rug in my room had some very dark stains. The shower was hot, but the pressure was lacking. And there was an old anti-slip mat in the tub which didn’t seem like it could be nearly as clean as just the porcelain of the tub. It had me wondering how much scrubbing actually gets done to it after each guest. The Petro next door was nice for dining options, grab snack or drinks, or missing necessities, but also loud. There were so many people milling about and so, so much traffic! I can’t speak on the free breakfast since I didn’t make it in time, but it is nice to see that being offered again.
Not the worst place to stay, but the $114 price (after AARP discount too) was too much for this hotel. I think it should be priced in...
Read moreWe booked this room for Friday and Saturday nights a few months ago because we were coming to Albert Lea for a waterski tournament. Overnight on Wednesday Albert Lea had torrential rains that caused officials with the city and county to close the lake on Thursday and cancel the tournament. The second I found out about it I called, and called, and called the hotel to cancel. By the time I got through, it was 4:20 pm. While trying to get through, I read my reservation confirmation which said 4 pm was the cutoff for cancelling. Anyway, the front desk clerk told me that she would only cancel Saturday night, but I’d still have to pay for Friday night. So, when you ask how my stay was, I guess I’m a little perturbed that I was charged for an empty room because it took me 20 minutes to cancel our reservation. I’m sure your hotel was full one minute and suddenly had a surge of cancellations, but it’s a little shady to charge people money for something they couldn’t and didn’t use. So, no. I will not recommend your product to...
Read moreMy recent stay at Comfort Inn was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I stepped into my room, I was hit with the overwhelming stench of marijuana that permeated every inch of the space. It was clear that the management has zero control over what happens in their rooms.
The bed was as hard as a rock, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. Coupled with the continuous noise from other guests and the street outside, rest was a distant dream. The pillows were worthless, offering no support whatsoever, and leaving me with a stiff neck in the morning.
The bathroom was a disgrace. It was dirty, with visible grime and hair from previous occupants. It was evident that housekeeping standards are abysmal at this establishment.
To top it all off, this nightmare cost me $200 a night. For the least value I've ever experienced at any hotel, this was a complete rip-off. I will never stay at a Comfort Inn again and strongly advise others to steer clear of this terrible...
