3.5 to 4.0 stars. If you go right between 11AM and Noon when everything is fresh, you'll be greeted with a nice selection of items including fried fish with tartar sauce and a number of other items including ribs, many of which you don't see on smaller buffets. A quick and pain free trip from the interstate, not having to go deep into Albert Lea at all to get to it is kind of nice.
There are a few items that are fairly unique and quite good. However, my impression of the buffet as a whole is that the chicken selections were average to below average which dragged down my total score. Two of my favorite places to eat chinese are closer to where I live. They both have honey chicken, peanut chicken, and a much better tasting general tsos... the chicken selections at this place were similar tasting and the variety was lacking compared to my favorites.
My suggestion to them... add honey and peanut chicken (and ginger chicken if you can make it) to the buffet and toss something trivial like the french fries... that combined with eating between 11AM and Noon should net a 4.5 star experience.
If you're heading west on I-90 and are passing by Brandon, SD consider giving the buffet there a try.. the chicken selections...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible. My mother and myself arrived at approx 3:30 pm which is considered start of dinner at 4pm. This is my 2nd time within a span of 6 months. They used to years ago be wonderful BUT NOW, you pay first, its self serve on drinks, prices from 11.00 last time to now 16.00 and to make it worse, the food was STONE COLD TO BARELY TEPID on all 3 steam tables. At 16.00 per person and cold Chinese, no thanks. I did express my concern to the cashier and she seemed unaffected by it. I noticed this time they had big TV s on the wall. People will come back if the food is HOT, by putting up tvs you encourage people to stay longer, what's up with that. Whoever heard of a Chinese sports restaurant???? It seemed to me they turned down the steam tables till dinner. I did not stay till the dinner crowd came if they did, but with seafood on those tables, someone is going to become ill from food not at proper temperature.
I won't be returning till a new business goes in.
I suggest someone make it a Mexican sports bar/restaurant. The hispanic community makes wonderful hot and tasty dishes. They actually take pride in...
Read moreMy family has frequented Wok ‘n Roll since they opened well over a decade ago. We miss the old owners who kept the restaurant impeccable and ensured top quality food. Yesterday evening we got takeout and were not pleased. I am awarding the restaurant three stars only because of the exceptional Salt and Pepper Shrimp, which is also on the buffet each evening.
We ordered several dishes which included chicken, and I must comment on the off-putting texture of this meat. While the dishes appeared to contain large slices of chicken breast, the slices were apparently over-processed spongy chicken-like —. Your guess is as good as ours when it comes to the mystery “meat” in our meal. Worse yet, some of the -ahem- chicken had imbedded inedible gristle and cartilage. Ugh! It completely ruined my meal. 😕
My recommendation is to eat in the restaurant in order to send back any...
