While our stay was decent I’m a little disappointed with our stay after seeing so many high reviews. To start off when booking and on the website there is no mention of the $150 incidental fee. A “incidental fee” is mentioned but the actual amount of $150 is not. So when we used one card our card was declined because of insufficient funds, which is embarrassing but that’s on us and not the hotel. Had we been told beforehand of the fee price I would have used two separate cards from the start. My 2nd card was declined for fraud and we weren’t alerted till about 9:30 that night so it was too late to call my bank. I did ask to make sure they put my correct card info and the employee said yes (all via text). My bank the next morning told me my card info was incorrectly put they could see the wrong expiration date and cvs was put in. They tried to run it 4 times so that’s why my bank blocked it. I did ask to speak to a manager both times and there apparently wasn’t one on site both times. The same morning upon checkout a different employee charged me a higher price for the room than the price the night before when I asked why he said it was the current rate of the room that day and not the price we booked b/c apparently we were marked as a “no show” which I’m not sure why. So I had to prove the price we booked ahead so I could get the same price. While I know he was trying, he just didn’t seem to know how to handle the situation to refund me the difference or explain why were marked as no shows. I had to leave but later was called to be informed they would be able to process the refund. On top of that we had ants in our room. We had only been there a few hours so I reported it because I know it wasn’t from us. The female employee was kind enough to bring me a broom when I asked for one after asking how we should handle this situation and she did help to sweep them out. We weren’t offered a new room until about 30-40 minutes later via text but we had already been getting ready to go to bed as we had an early morning. I wanted to enjoy our stay but the stress of not knowing why my card was declined and ants in the room was stressful. We also weren’t offered any discount for the ants or inconveniences which I know we aren’t entitled too but the offer would have been nice. I know it’s a new hotel so hopefully they will figure out their system a little better especially for the price of the rooms. The location alone is worth it because you are far away from traffic and it feels very safe and quaint.
** in response to the reply: I did not get any text messages or calls but I will try to find an email so I can reach out that way instead. Thank you for the response! I will follow up via email instead but I appreciate the reply and acknowledging the issues we had. I am familiar with incidental fees but this was the first time I’ve seen one so high almost the same cost of the room and not disclosed during the...
Read moreThe staff there were amazing and engaged with guests frequently to ensure their stay was going well, without being intrusive.
The hotel was beautiful with nice decor and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. There were plenty of communal areas for families or for guests to become acquainted. It is located right on a golf course, so it is also a very quiet location.
The room I stayed in was perfect. I ran the in wall unit on fan to keep air circulating, but used the fireplace for warmth, and it was extremely cozy.
There were small details they thought of that are rare to find anywhere else. There are disposable slippers that are actually quite comfortable. The plugs they use have a passthrough, so the plug is still accessible. The alarm clocks have built in chargers and outlets. They use smart TVs, so you can log in to your own accounts. The HDMI port is accessible if you're like me and plug your laptop in.
Surprisingly, the snacks are very reasonably priced and are very transparent that you will be charged. I found El Verde Inn to actually care about how their guests feel and it seems they put a lot of thought and effort into making a pleasurable experience.
Overall, it was a great time, and I will definitely be back again. One thing to note, the key card system, while great on paper, can be a bit finicky. The cards sometimes don't read right away and then your finger accidentally taps the keypad and it becomes a bit frustrating. I found myself using the key code more often, which I thought was a great idea. It's not a big deal, as there are two options for getting into your room, and both are simple and effective.
I really would like to shout out the staff on duty during my stay, however I unfortunately forgot their name. They were very pleasant and welcoming and...
Read moreLocated right on the Paradise Hills golf course. The best feature is that it’s quiet and the staff is very nice, a ubiquitous feature of the New Mexico area it would seem.|It’s on two floors, about 16 rooms and there’s no elevator so be prepared to carry upstairs. As has been mentioned in other reviews, there is an air conditioner located underneath the window. Given the heat of the Albuquerque area you will have to run this continuously and it is fairly noisy – I tried to tell my wife this was white noise, but she would have none of it.|I would term the bathroom, fairly cramped, the towels, nice and thick and the vanity area area with good space. One thing about this particular property is that you were almost forced to live out of your suitcase. There is absolutely no drawers in the room with several hooks and only two hangers are provided so if you’re planning on a longer stay, you may want to reconsider as all your clothes and various items that you will need in the bathroom are going to end up on a counter and exposed, leading to a very cluttered experience. They do have a small coffee station downstairs, which has some syrups and I hear there’s a plan to put in a small automatic coffee making station on the second floor just above the front desk. Otherwise the coffee pods provided are pretty terrible.|As has been noted by other reviews, the desk staff person is not there after 10 PM so if you are in need of anything do it before that time. I have a small lounge area that has a microwave and a nice freezer chest that has bags of ice in it for guests, a definite plus. Unfortunately, it’s the only microwave available for guest so there can be a little bit of a...
