We originally booked two nights. Room we had was relatively clean and price was very reasonable. The biggest saving grace was the desk clerk, Aaron I believe. He was very cordial and accommodating. I loved his smile and the way he interacted with not only us but the way I saw him interact with others. The pool was clean, though a little cool for my liking. The pool room was very warm. I'm surprised the water wasn't warmer based on the room temperature.
First room we were in seemed small for a king sized room. We were on 2nd floor and it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Refrigerator in room didn't work well. They replaced it. The first day we were there they biscuit gravy was the worse I've ever experienced anywhere! It was like milk with flavored in it. Except it didn't have much flavor. There was no sausage. Only eggs. It would be nice if they had muffins. But only had bagels and breads for toast. The second day the biscuit gravy was thick, but it still didn't add much flavor except there was sausage and we chopped it up to add flavor to the gravy.
We decided to stay another night but we decided to move to another hotel. Fortunately for LaQuinta, our loyalty stayed with them for the rest of our stay here in Tennessee due to other hotels in the area in the price range were already booked.
So... We moved to another room hoping if we were on 1st floor smokers would be less encouraged to perfume the place with their disgusting aroma. We picked a disability room as it was a bit larger and would keep us farther away from smoking clientele. Well, this worked except.
The light up mirror in the bathroom did not light up The refrigerator made an awful pumping noise all night long. This is why I am sitting here in the lobby at 3 am typing this review. I can't sleep. I'd complain, but my companion is sound asleep and I don't want to disturb him. We have a 440 mile drive home when we get up. I hope he doesn't need a relief driver. Maybe I'll nap better in the car.
The rating I gave the rooms were due to the issues I had. The rating for service was due to Aaron being so personable and out of his way to be accommodating. He is very polite. The lady serving breakfast was also very sweet, in spite of the bad gravy and the breakfast selection was not her choice, I'm sure. The rating for the location is because it's right near Ruby Tuesdays! Ours in Indiana are all shut down. We were so happy to find one right next to the hotel. It's minus one star due to the heavy traffic.
The price was reasonable. It's not nightmare. Just had irritating problems that management can improve on. But, well, next time we will look at other accommodations for our next stay. This is our second visit this year. Who knows, we might come back to the area...
Read moreMade reservations about a week before my stay with my daughter and grand daughter who stayed in a separate room. I requested top floor, not near the elevator or ice machine. At check in I was told they couldn't honor my request and I would be on the first floor in a pet-friendly room. The reception clerk told me that they had called me several times during the day and messaged. I had been on a flight. When he told me this I checked my phone and he had not messaged and only called once. So, that was untrue. I've been a La Quinta customer for over twenty-five years and this did not sit well with me. I do not like to stay in rooms that have been occupied by pets or to hear pets barking. However, the room they gave me was 126 and very quiet and clean. It was okay. The breakfast did not include muffins which is what I like and I've never been to a La Quinta before which didn't have them. The most negative part was the 'hot' water in the shower. It was barely warm and was that way all three days. The hotel had the handle set so it could not be turned for hotter water. A positive is that it is close to the airport and easy to get to downtown Knoxville.||Even though my room did not have a pet odor, my daughter's room which was down the hall from mine did have a pet odor. ||The one negative I would change definitely would be the temperature of the shower water. I really like a hot shower and it...
Read moreI purchased my elderly family member A room. We showed up early around 9:00am and I had to drop him off. When he asked if he was allowed to wait in the lobby until the room was ready, the lady at the front desk became rude, offensive and defensive at the same time and stated that they don't let anyone sit in the lobby paying customer or not. This offended me but I didn't have time to go to another place to take my money elsewhere. I won't ever be using anything related to La Quinta and I hope you fire the people that you have working at your establishment because they do not value repeat customers or the current customers that you have. If this is a corporate role that your whole establishment practice is that you don't let paying customers sit in the lobby until their room is ready, then shame on you. My uncle is in his late '60s and literally had to walk around in the rain today like a homeless man. Thank you so much. I hope you enjoy the money. It is the last you will ever get from me or anyone in my family and several of our friends have heard about the incident and they will not be using your establishment or any establishment affiliated with you. It sickens me what service has turned into. He is an elderly man who was forced to go and sit at a gas station or restaurant like a bum even though he purchased a room. DO NOT EVER GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR MONEY GO TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION ONE THAT...
