Review of Maritime Conference Center – Stay on July 10–11, 2025
I rarely leave reviews, but after the absolutely horrendous experience my colleagues and I had at the Maritime Conference Center, I feel obligated to warn others.
To start, the conditions of this facility are completely unacceptable. There is an overwhelming smell of mold, and we were informed by staff and even other guests that the building is suspected to have asbestos—a major health hazard. This alone is enough to shut a place down.
The customer service at the front desk was appalling. One particular male staff member was so unprofessional and disrespectful that even internal management has filed complaints about him. But because he’s protected by a union, apparently nothing can be done. Well, I am doing something about it by making this public. A business should never hide behind red tape when its customers are being mistreated.
I stayed here along with about 20 colleagues for a work-related event, and the experience was consistently poor across the board. • Food: Absolutely disgusting. Some of it was overcooked, while other dishes were completely undercooked—which is both unappetizing and unsafe. • Rooms: Fairly clean, but extremely basic. No iron provided in the room—I had to request one three separate times before finally receiving it. That level of service is unacceptable. • Staff: On July 10th, a female shift supervisor was incredibly rude to my boss and directly to me. She wrongly claimed I wasn’t on the list for room accommodations when I was. She offered no apology for the confusion and spoke with clear hostility, as if it was a burden to do her job.
Another major issue is that upper management is nowhere to be found. The responsibility is dumped on front-line booking managers and scattered supervisors who clearly have no customer service training or accountability. This place runs like a ship with no captain, and the chaos shows in every interaction.
If you’re considering staying at Maritime Conference Center—DON’T. Whether you’re planning a conference, booking a block for professional events, or just traveling solo, this is not a safe, clean, or professional environment. Our entire group walked away disappointed, disrespected, and determined...
Read moreThis is a pretty nice hotel and conference center. You can tell that it’s still has some of the charm when it originally was built. This is seen from the moment you drive up. As you drive the mile of forest to get to the Maritime, you are whisked away from the city and transplanted into a secluded area. Their pool is wonderful it is indoors, so no need to worry about winter weather most if not all the rooms are non-smoking but they have a minium smoking area outside the meals they provide are quite nice and Buffet style this way you can pick and choose what you would like to eat for each meal. The rooms are on par with what you would need for a hotel. Our room had a full walk-in shower with no bath. I don’t know if this is all rooms but it was for ours Keep that in mind if you would like a bath, the AC and heating worked wonderfully and the TV was adequate. We came here for a conference and enjoyed the hospitality that the staff of the Maritime gave to us. The conference rooms were large, well lit, and the coffee cup flowing lol, if you’re looking for a place for your business to meet and have training, then this is the place for you. The Maritime is a short distance away from Baltimore, but Uber does drive here and is reasonably priced if you do not have a car. The rooms and atmosphere are quiet and we did not hear the rooms next to us. This is a nice and quiet escape for the weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We hope you choose this place for your...
Read moreThis place was very amenable. So strap in and read. Note: This is not the normal hotel. There is no microwave in the room, yet a rather large refrigerator is in the room. The microwave was located downstairs where the snacks for purchase were. On my floor, the 5th floor in the north tower, there was an actual laundry room with washers and dryers. Can we say at no additional charge. This facility is widely used from training. And you really can not beat the amenities that are offered. There are three meals provided daily. Yes!! Breakfast! Lunch. And dinner!!!! There's a shuttle to and from the airport. Note: I came only to speak for my room. The bathrooms are rather small but accommodating. The beds are not the normal luxurious hotel beds, but you will be able to get some rest. Now hers the fun part: While downstairs waiting on my door dash, I witnessed an awesome act.... the bar tender left the bar to help a patron that ha dbecome very inebriated while in the bar. The compassion he showed was above the bar. It is truly hard to find employees with that kind of heart. He went so far as to help the disoriented patron to find his room and walked him to the elevator and to his room. Now that's great custome service. I am posting pictures of the room upon entrance as well as the beautiful sunsets that sat among the still chills of...
