Toro Bravo — Restaurant in Maryland

My experience today was really disheartening because I genuinely enjoy this restaurant but today will be my last. Today my food was excellent until the last bite, my sister who does not eat guacamole still had her’s left. I took a fork full off of her plate and pulled out super curly hair. My sister has braids and mine is straight. I didn’t make a scene the waitress heard me say really there is a hair in my last bite. She watched me pull it out of the guacamole and said she would get the manger. We requested the check and saw that nothing was taken off or even acknowledged from the manager who we now know is the owner. Initially I thought maybe they would take 10% off, apologize, give his name for maybe a complimentary app next visit or maybe the drink off which would have been fine I understand things happen. The owner comes over and says that didn’t come from our kitchen with a attitude and says maybe it fell from the sky. I am in total disbelief that the owner would sit and debate a $18 meal about hair that obviously was not ours. No apology but a back in forth debate and then after he couldn’t come up with a logical reason he ended up taking one of the meals off. I didn’t come for a free meal but it is clear our money was not respected. I’ve been here many times since we moved to MD from NJ because it’s hard to come across authentic Mexican and the kids love it. I have even brought clients and team members here from my company. The place is pretty clean and the ambiance is fun and relaxed, but I had such a horrible experience last night I have to give it a poor rating due to its poor customer service. My son’s order was incorrect after I expressly told them he had an allergy. They quickly fixed it. Then my order was incorrect and they refused to make it right. I ordered a burrito without sour cream. The server took it upon himself to remove the guacamole in addition to the sour cream. I said it’s not a big deal I just don’t want to be charged for it since I didn’t want to have to take the burrito apart and add in the guac they offered to bring on the side. They refused to correct it and instead insisted on charging me for the guacamole. I paid it and left without being able to celebrate my husband’s birthday because I was so upset by the managers response saying I was wrong when his waiter clearly made a mistake on my order. Often refer my coworkers and clients here for lunch, and so convenient being next to the nail salon I frequent. Never liked the tacos but the entrees, apps and drink portions are pretty good. The past few times I’ve noticed the service was not the greatest the last being yesterday. Server was very aggressive with his tone and never acknowledged why a quesadilla was taking over 40 mins. Proceeded to ignore us while watching soccer then took forever to get us a receipt after we requested our items to go. The eye roll when I had to catch him at the register to close us out, I’m assuming because of the three cards was the perfect topping to the end of our visits here and will make sure I find another spot for our work happy hours. I did do him the favor and said just pick one card if it’s too complicated to split three items on each card. Unfortunately for him, since we were not served, that person tipped accurately.
