Amazing! Awesome to find a Ruby Tuesday still operating! Having grown up in Knoxville, Tennessee, Ruby Tuesday has been a favorite restaurant for me, since its beginning in 1972. Due to many factors; economic, pandemic, etc., the Ruby Tuesday chain and brand have, disappointedly, nearly disappeared. My Ruby Tuesday in Oldsmar, Florida closed more than year ago, leaving me with no Ruby Tuesday restaurant to enjoy. Surprisingly, I was thrilled to find this Ruby Tuesday restaurant location open for business, during a business trip to the Baltimore area. My colleague and I actually walked over mile from our hotel to reach this Ruby Tuesday, as we were both determined to find it and enjoy a meal! Naturally, for myself, walking into a Ruby Tuesday is like "coming home to a friend." Although my first visit to this location, I automatically felt comfortable and welcomed. The building and dining areas appeared to be clean and well maintained. There is a little "age" showing on the facility, lending to Ruby's history and longevity. Of course, over 50 years of being a regular customer, the menu has undergone numerous and dramatic changes over the decades. The one menu item, actually more of an iconic feature, is the Garden Bar (it was called a salad bar for many decades!) Sadly, on this visit, the Garden Bar didn't look fresh and needed immediate attention. Therefore, my colleague and I both ordered the Smokehouse BBQ cheeseburger, a favorite of mine and recent addition to the menu (in the past few years.) As in past experiences, the Smokehouse was absolutely delicious! My colleague and I both thoroughly enjoyed our burgers, both selecting tots as our side item. Our server was excellent and efficient. She seemed pleased to have two ardent Ruby Tuesday fans in her section. If you're near this Ruby Tuesday, check it out! It's to find a Ruby Tuesday. It's a great place to have lunch or dinner with friends, family, colleagues or just yourself. Ruby's has a full service bar, including happy hour specials! Fantastic, pleasant dining experience! I'm so happy to find and enjoy dinner with a long time, good friend;...
Read moreCalled a couple of weeks ago to make a reservation for 50 for a church function. Spoke to the Manager, Tony, who assured me they could accommodate the group. I tried to call the restaurant to ensure reservations were still on but no one answered the phone. I tried several times. Thinking that everything was still ok, I went there to inform them that the party was on their way. No one was at the front of the house to greet me and I waited for about 5 minutes. I saw someone walking in the back and went back to see if anyone could help. There were 2 people there. The one person had an awful unprofessional attitude from the beginning. He gave me a look as to why was I back there instead of asking if he could assist me. I informed him of what I was there for and was asked if I called to confirm the reservation. I told him that I did but was rudely cut off before I could finish talking saying that the reservation was not confirmed and it’s nothing they could do. I was trying to tell him no one answered and that I called a couple of times. He in turn said they tried to call me. I looked back on my phone and saw no missed phone call from them. Then I was told that there were only 2 people working and even if I wanted to stay he couldn’t tell me how long it would be before he got to us. Mind you there were only a handful of patrons in the whole place, but also understand waiting on that large of a crowd with only him and another worker would be beyond hectic. If I had received a phone call explaining that they were short of staff and couldn’t accommodate us that would have been understandable and would have given me an opportunity to look elsewhere. However, because of the rudeness of the one person in the back, who I’m not sure if it was Tony or not, they get this review. This was totally unprofessional how he handled this situation. They lost 50 customers today and I hope corporate sees this complaint. When you have to deal with the public, you should have people skills. Customer relations are vital to...
Read moreWe had a party of 11. Though food was very good with no complaints the management of the restaurants is so poor that we considered walking out after 30-45 minutes. We stuck it out and worked with the waitress, who was taxed by poor infrastructure and support.
I called at 2 PM saying that I was to be at restaurant at 6:30 with 11 people. The server never asked my name, which made me wonder. I called again at 6 to remind them. We appeared at 6:30 as advertised. Within 5 minutes, we were seated at a long table. Then we waited. FOR OVER 60 MINUTES No server identified themselves as ours. At 40 MINUTES I went to front desk and advised no one was serving us. At about 65 MINUTES a server showed up to take drink orders. Once taken, the orders took 15-20 minutes to be placed in front of us. Another 15 minutes before orders were taken. When orders arrived – about 30 minutes later – two were missing. These orders came out about 15-20 minutes later. The overall period of time in the restaurant was 2 ½ hours. Most of this time was waiting. Looking around, you could tell that the small staff was taxed. Waitress never asked about refills on soft drinks. The final straw was that the restaurant appears to have a single mobile device for accepting payment. Because of this, customers had to wait for other customers to pay before they got the machine which was held by the server. You could add the tip on this device, but the minimum allowed was 18%. So, in this case, if I wanted to “make a statement” by lowering the tip, I could not. At one point, I asked the server “where is the manager”. She said he was cooking. This tells you everything. I am highly sympathetic about the fact that it is difficult to hire right now. But the manager has to be on the floor dealing with these situations and taking care of business. Summary: food was good; service was fair minus;...
