Quick Digest- ok for older families (without young kids), over the roaders, truck drivers happy to see a bed, and ppl not needing an elevator, low maintenance travelers. If this isn't you, then this hotel is not for you. True story- my 6 yr old told me that "this was not a hotel and that if it was, it was the worst" -no working pool, dysfunctional bath tub and dysfunctional wifi ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ I was at this hotel 3d,2n. It is the following Tuesday and I think I am now ready for this review. Deep breaths. There will be tips, pros, cons, and pictures. All of it will be ๐Ÿ’ฏ true- I take reviews very seriously. I use/refer to them when I do anything and go anywhere. And being that I enjoy to travel with my family and, on occasion, with just me and my husband- I think about what others may want to know before they go, so, here we go. *Tips* -Research the area!๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ ๐Ÿ‘€ Arcola, IL. Key words: amish, rural, farms, country, the opposite of diverse๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ. We were in the area for an EIU Graduation but being raised in Chicagoland, Arcola was uncomfortable at times. Not unsafe but- yeah. -Think twice before scheduling with a 3rd party. We used travelocity and there was miscommunication between me, the hotel and travelocity. ๐Ÿค” *Pros* -Heather was amazing!๐Ÿฅฐ We only got to interact with her on Sunday but she was over-accommodating, a hospitality genius. I wish she had been there all weekend. Might have impacted this review. Promote Heather to managment! -within walking minutes of 24/7 gas station, Dairy Queen, McDonald's, Mexican restaurant, diner, pizza place. This was convenient. ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ -hotel was very clean & smelled nice. -fridge in room was spacious. -only 2 floors/levels - walls are pretty thick- we had a newborn baby next door who was a crier ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿปbut we could barely hear him/her -on both floors, at the end of the hall, there was an outdoor staircase balcony thing with a smoker's ash tray thing, which was convenient as hell, being a smoker. They should add a bench on the 2nd like they have on the 1st. Still a + -The beds and pillows were so amazing! Made for comfy sleep!๐Ÿ˜ด *CONS* -hotel wasn't prepared to accommodate an "extra blanket" request...lame. Was I supposed to pack an extra 1? No, you're a hotel, you need to be ready for that. The word is Hospitality. -they advertised Queen beds.... I own Queen beds and 1 king... those were Full sized mattresses- not Queens at all. No doubt. Lame. -NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE. NO WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE ENTRANCE AND NO ELEVATOR ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿฝthis is a big inconvenience for young families too being that it is so hard to travel light sometimes. -Yumi (manager/front desk lady) I'm just going to say it- this South Asian sister may not like black people ๐Ÿคฃ she was short, condescending, from the start. Cutting me off while I'm giving her my info at check in. Not a fan of rude employees at a hotel -WIFI DRAMA ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ my phone could connect but my PS4 could not no matter where we moved it and I have never had this issue, this being my 4th hotel this yr. We always travel with the PS4. When we approached Yumi, she basically said it was our problem and was not even interested in fixing it. She said she didn't know anything about PS4s lol but the hotel wifi worked and walked off ๐Ÿคฃ I'm saying this again if it weren't already clear from an earlier Con- Yumi is in the wrong industry. She had no problem with coming off rude, disinterested in our comfort and satisfaction as paying guests to our hotel- Wild! - while I enjoyed having the outdoor staircase balcony thingy, the door didn't require key card access and so if someone wanted, they could walk into the building without being a paying guest ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜ฌ yikes. - bath tub couldn't hold bath water. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ - our door to our room looked beat up and we had issues getting into our room at time. Like the key card wouldn't catch and at times we had to pull hard for the door to remain closed. -hot breakfast was ok but the breakfast window is too short in my opinion (6-9am) I'm used to 10 & 11 AM cut-offs ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

This hotel was very dirty and had a terrible smell. I did not feel very safe there. The door had apparently been kicked in at some point. The security lock had been screwed back onto the door. The frame of the door had been broken and was just screwed back together instead of being properly repaired. I had to push the door open with my shoulder to get in the room because it obviously had been ripped off of its hinges when the door was forced open. Upgrades had been ATTEMPTED. The flooring had been replaced but there were huge gaps around the perimeter of the room. Poor installation quality. Room was very dusty. Exhaust fan in the bathroom was pulling away from the wall and there was a gaping hole. I am not a picky person and do not expect perfection, but this place was disgusting. Thank goodness it was only a 1 night stay.

We got the King bed room for 2 nights. Pros (10): The room was pretty clean, bed was very comfy, warm blankets, fridge/freezer worked great, excellent water pressure, AC worked great, plenty of chairs, quiet, security cameras outside and inside, and the girl at the front desk was very nice. Cons (3): Bathroom was pretty small and could've been slightly cleaner, but it wasn't bad. The side entrance near our room does not lock, so anyone could've walked into the hotel (not that I'm personally worried, but others might be). Overall, I would definitely stay here again if in the area. Surprisingly nice for a 2-star hotel.

Location of hotel was good. Making reservation seemed scammy on the phone. They kept claiming โ€œthat room was just bookedโ€ and then suggested a higher priced room. This happens 3 times putting the price for my stay at $200 more than the room I requested. I ended up booking the original room online with no issue and called to confirm. They advertise a pool - but when I arrived, it was not open. They indicated the pool hadnโ€™t been open since 2020. That was part of my reason for selecting the hotel. Cleanliness was sub-par and an exterminator was definitely needed (killed a large spider right after entering the room). Security was definitely lacking. The exterior door on the end of the building remained unlocked 24/7 and while going out to walk our last morning, there were people sleeping in a vehicle outside our room window. The car had been running and the exhaust could be smelled in the room. This should have been picked up on security camera. A person urinating by his car door after sleeping there all night doesnโ€™t feel like my safety was considered. No security camera? Or no one monitoring cameras? On my many trips through the lobby, no one was ever at the front desk. Room refrigerator didnโ€™t work (they did replace it) and the room had definitely not been adequately cleaned (small debris on floor along with a partial fake nail). Lack of security, lack of cleanliness and falsely continuing to advertise a pool that hasnโ€™t been put into service in 5 years will definitely deter me from ever staying at this location or chain in the future. Would...

I most likely would have given three stars however a star was removed due to several things. The #1 red flag that something is wrong with the room presents itself when the room is sprayed with a perfume or air freshener so thick it hits you hard when you open the door. Such is the case with my room. While tolerable, once the smell wore off in the morning, I could smell the nasty smell they were trying to cover up. I was unable to determine the root of the odor...and my guesses were dead animal or mold in the wall, someone with extreme body odor rubbed themselves all over the bathroom or the same person wrapped themselves in the shower curtain and hung it back up. I don't know what it was but I could catch a wiff of it every time I went into and out of the bathroom. The room was questionably clean beyond that. I could tell that the ottoman wasn't moved when vacuuming as I could see the chex mix on the floor from the previous person. The room was presentable and usable. I am leary about using unsecure wi-fi and being that other businesses were so close to the hotel, I could pick up their unsecure wifi from my room, I didn't use wifi at all. The staff was very friendly and the location was great and for a quick stay, I may use the hotel again although it will not be my...
