The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms were well stocked and very clean, the girl at the front desk was absolutely exceptional while we struggled with payment and some online issues that had nothing to do with this Super 8. Food and stores nearby, literally within walking distance. Not very crowded, well lit at night, reasonably nice part of town. Our shower even had several different modes, a feature we were not expecting, including misting and intense massaging sprays. We were also surprised to find a shower cap provided. The toilet paper was also fancifully folded into a triangle, and when I asked for an extra towel, I was given literally a massive stack of towels, rags, cloths, and fresh soap. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space around the room, including several drawers. The tv doesn't have too many channels if you're used to big name companies such as Dish or Direct, but it has a nice variety and we easily found something to watch every night. Besides that, there's free WiFi that works great here. The air conditioner/heater works almost too well. My boyfriend and I both sleep in the cold, and we made the mistake of going to bed with the AC on high and woke up to a room that was almost below freezing, but within 5 minutes of flipping it to heat, it was perfect and we just turned the unit off. Various adjustments can be made to the unit to find ideal temperatures. Ice machines work amazingly, which is an issue I have at a lot of other hotels actually. The fridge and microwave also both worked great. While we didn't wake up soon enough to enjoy our free breakfast, the area looked promising, with a make-it-yourself waffle area for Texas shaped waffles. My only real complaints are that the coffee machine is a pain and can only brew one cup safely at a time, unless you want a mess, and the wall outlets weren't placed close enough to the bed to plug your devices in and lay them on your nightstand. Oh, and the pool was closed, which was a bummer, but these things happen almost everywhere unless you want to pay a looot of money. For the price, this is a fantastic little hotel and unless my financial situation suddenly becomes ten times better, I will definitely be staying here whenever I come to Athens in the future! The only other hotels in town worthwhile are the Best Western and Holiday Inn, and both of those are very costly and very crowded. Four stars solidly for the pool being closed, coffee machine troubles, and wall outlets. Aaand a little bit for some of the cleaning staff staring at a us, but gay couples are sort of used to that. I definitely recommend...
Read moreSo...if I had actually read the reviews before booking, I would have never booked! However, I booked at 10pm on the road and arrived at 11:45pm, we needed a bed for the night. I am what they call picky...I dont like hair in the bath or toilet or sink. I like clean floors and a medium soft bed. I love the smell of bleach. So, we walk into a decent foryer. Checkin was good and easy. They required a credit card to book but, no money was needed to hold for a damage deposit. The room was number 117 down stairs. The room was clean carpet looked clean bath was clean. Granite on countertops and in shower. Room was somewhat freshly painted. All was quiet. Parking was well lit. Cameras everywhere. My husband did not sleep at all after reading 2 reviews of people walking around outside and hearing gunshots. We heard nothing like that and no one was out and about. Parking was well lit so we could see everything. The design of the hotel was good, like a u shape. You could see the whole parking lot. Breakfast was great in my opinion...waffles yogurt boiled eggs fruit cups honey bun toast Danishes OJ Apple juice coffee. Staff was super friendly helpful and accommodating. Overall for the price not a bad...
Read moreTried staying here for a night and ended up having to leave. The rooms smelled like milldew and when we got back to our room at 7:30pm there was a whole group of people blocking our way into our room, having a party, barbecuing, and drinking. Not what you really want in your stay at any motel. When we called the front desk to tell them about this party they said that they knew it was going on and didn't really care. We told the front desk about the open containers and their smoke from the barbecue coming into our room, which is a non-smoking room, and yet again didn't really care. One of the worst motels I've ever been to. Don't let the cheap prices fool you.
Addition: We may have checked in at 3 but left right after that and weren't in our room for hours we just got back to a party at 7:30, which I've never seen happening at any hotel, with very confrontational people when all we wanted was a nice stay. We have also been given refunds by other hotels for having issues as well. Your response has incorrect information. Thanks for the refund though since you weren't providing the services that were expected. Because thats usually what's expected...
