Absolutely do not recommend. Upon arrival at the Center Street Value Inn in Auburn, ME, we saw someone digging through the dumpster who looked like they were on drugs. The entrance had a taped-up plastic "open" sign and a strong bleach smell, with a pest control notice posted immediately inside. The front desk was shielded by a piece of plexiglass with a handwritten sign saying “back in 5 minutes—call this number.” We called and waited until someone eventually came out to check us in—at the same time a police officer showed up to speak with the clerk, which didn’t help the sketchy first impression. Walking up to our room, the door to the hallway was filthy and the carpet had what looked like a large blood stain. Inside the room, the bed sheets were stained and covered with little black hairs. We had to flag down a staff member to change them. There was a dead fly with blood on the lampshade, the curtains were hung backwards, and a stained office chair covered in electrical tape was sitting in the corner. Even worse, the sprinkler system had open drywall cut-outs around it, both in the room and the bathroom—zero privacy and a huge safety concern. The bathroom was disgusting: brown splatter on the walls, stained towels, dust-caked fan, and the tub was covered in mold and soap scum. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned properly in months. Breakfast was supposed to be included, but it was never mentioned at check-in and we never saw any sign of it. I don’t write reviews often, but this place was so shockingly bad I felt obligated. This was easily the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

I really think some these reviews need to come to terms with REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS and quit complaining over some the bs they complaining about i was almost TERRIFIED To stay here given these poor reviews but guess what??? IT WAS FINE THE ROOMS ARE NOT 5 STAR HOTEL BUT some ya need to realize YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR This is one the CHEAPEST Hotel around if not the ONLY Cheap stay i could find and yes while it would not justify poor service some claim to receive the run down rooms and poor quality material is to be expected!!! So get a grip if you want better rooms why even book here to only start complaing?? My stay was pleasant the staff was absolutely helpful and friendly my room was nice and clean did seem a bit run down but i can tell they been renovating they also have pest control in place for those who claim there was roaches here i never seen one but there was a box under my sink and its lovely to see the staff taking measures some the hand towels did seem bit old stained but you are a grown adult just bring your own like i did and problem solved i actually came prepared with my own blankets and towels yet ABSOLUTELY nothing screamed filthy like some of you portrayed it though there is a musty stale like smell in the corridor but as i mentioned its to be expected from cheap motels so im not complaining some people need grow up on here Oh and there is a NO PETS sign out on front door so ppl oughtta be lying about dogs pissing on carpet smh

Don’t stay here! The recently “remodeled” room was dirty and poorly maintained. The rest of the hotel was literally under construction at the time of our stay. The room walls had stains smeared on them, exposed pipes and wires; The bathroom was a disaster. There was a hole in one of the walls that someone had shoved toilet paper in. The lighting was bright white LED and abysmal. ***Don’t be fooled by the advertisement of a recent remodel***. The “remodeled” room we stayed in looked half-done with chipped floors, messy caulk jobs, duct tape residue on furniture that had been moved and a really odd drop-ceiling…Something I’ve never seen in any hotel I’ve stayed in previous to this one. The entire hotel was torn up and under construction with bare concrete floors, no working ice machines and all the vending machines unplugged and out of service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, under any circumstances.

Our stay at this hotel was deeply unsettling and disappointing from start to finish. The room itself was in terrible condition—there were visible stains on the chairs, bed, and even grease marks on the headboards. The carpet just outside our door had what appeared to be multiple blood stains, which was alarming and unhygienic.

Outside the rooms, things were even worse. We witnessed people engaging in sexual activity in their cars in the parking lot, and it was clear that prostitution and drug activity were happening openly in and around the building. There were homeless individuals frequently coming in and out, and pets urinating on the carpets outside various rooms, adding to the overall unsanitary environment.

The staff were extremely rude and confrontational, approaching us in a hostile manner more than once. Most disturbingly, they insisted on entering our room even when we weren’t there, despite us specifically asking them not to. This raised serious concerns about privacy and safety.

Additionally, the WiFi was completely unusable, forcing us to rely on our personal hotspot. And to top it off, the hotel attempted to charge our card before we even arrived, despite clearly stating on their website that payment would only be taken upon check-in.

This property felt unsafe, unsanitary, and poorly managed. I would strongly advise others to avoid...
