To whom it may concern,
after retiring a year ago I had not used your hotels because my travel needs diminished, but when I had to travel this past week I recalled your great service and accommodation. So I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard location in Auburn Alabama below (see attached billing for location and address). You might imagine my disappointment when the toilet in my room failed (flushed one time and then did not refill -but I could hear water running down the drain pipe) in the first day of my stay. I reported this failure in person to the clerk at the front desk, she assured me it would be taken care of. Imagine my surprise when returning from a sad day of funeral preparations and the broken toilet was still not functioning, but it was leaking water down it's internal drain pipe for more than 24 hours. I tried to report the failure on the phone, but no one answered . So, on the second day of my stay I reported the failure to the housekeeping staff on the second floor (I was staying in room 224), as I was leaving for honors to my deceased brother, they assured me it would be taken care of.
Imagine again on the next day of the funeral that I still did not have a functioning toilet, no attempt at repairs had been made. the water was still leaking down the drain pipe. . I tried calling the front desk, after a few minutes with no answer I hung up in frustration, I was busy taking care of family and had no time, only the inconvenience was palpable. In fact I had a long talk with the desk clerk again on my last day as I checked out of the hotel. I explained the entire sequence patiently to her, letting her know that in fact I was not angry, but that Marriott needs to know what a disappointed customer I am. She assured me that it would be repaired (too late for me) and that she would inform management.
So FYI, I have been a manager of facility maintenance in every imaginable administrative and support environment, in fact have received Sodexo service awards and your company has had a long affiliation with mine.. Again just know that I will never stay at another Marriott property.
Sad day when attention to any detail fails, sadder when after three notifications on separate days, the issue has not been resolved, and saddest for the environment- this property management does not respond to environmental issues. You had a water leak for three days and it was not repaired. (Probably a small...
Read moreWas a Roach in my room took pictures and then killed it and took it to the front desk. Front desk clerk said oh gosh these are the bad Roaches that are german cockroach which I agreed. We had traveled from Mexico to to Alabama with and elderly lady and 2 kids. After traveling literally hours I told her that if they are in one room they are probably in them all and that my crew was tired from traveling and we already showering and getting ready for bed that we would just stay in that room and as long as someone knew and would reach out that's all I needed. She gave me an email address and said that the room would be comped and she was so so sorry for the accident. I told her no worries it happens just please have someone reach out. I emailed the pictures and information and upon check out I made sure they got my pictures and the front desk lady apologized and said someone would be reaching out to me to make it right. I get an email from the Gm to call him directly at such and such number. I reach its just the front desk guy that tells me they are trying to rehire an old employee and it would be a minute. No big deal couple seconds go by and it's the gm asking me why I am calling as I try to explain I found a cockroach in my room he gets defensive and tells me he doesn't have a cockroach problem he has an ant problem. I explain to him that what I found in my room wasn't an ant but in fact a Roach he proceeded to tell me he has to due monthly expectations and it couldn't have happened only ants. I told him I in fact killed the Roach took it downstairs to the front desk and she did whatever she needed to do with it to vary the issue. By rhe way if you are that queen you are too good for this place! You are sweet and humble. I was the asked what was the reason for my call and I expressed that he needed to get a bug man out there that I killed a Roach. He then went on about bed bugs accusing me of staying he had bed bugs with I never said a word about bed bugs and had to tell him over and over I said nothing about bed bugs and this conversation was getting no where and asked of he would just refund my night and he hung up on me so here is the...
Read moreAfter being in Auburn all day and not feeling awake enough to make a drive home I decided to book a room. I didn't have much to choose from because every hotel in the area seemed to be full (on a weeknight) and prices were sky-high! |The outside of the Marriott was clean and well-lit and generally felt like a safe area. The entrance from the main road was not lit up and was difficult to see.|Check-in was easy, but the desk person lacked in personality or hospitality. She was just doing her job. |I knew before booking that this hotel does not serve complimentary breakfast. I usually choose hotels with breakfast because 1. We pay a lot of money to stay at these establishments 2. My kids love to pick different things (like making their own waffles) to eat that we normally wouldn't make at home. 3. It's convenient. |Nonetheless, no breakfast at this Marriott, unless you visit their bar area and order and pay for food. |A guest checking in ahead of me asked about breakfast - I knew exactly what he was asking. The woman checking him in pointed (at the bar) and said it's over there from (this time to that time) not once saying it isn't included. I bet he was in for a surprise the next morning. |As for the room, it was clean and smelled good, unlike many hotels I've stayed in. |It's your standard room, but slightly larger than most. The beds were comfortable and had lots of pillows and the sheets were soft - win!|The bathroom had a large open shower and plenty of hooks and towel racks. |Only 1 coffee cup which sucks when you have more than 1 person in your room who wants coffee. And it looked like someone had spit in the coffee maker - people are nasty! Why???|Also, the mini fridge had something growing in it which I presumed was black mold. |As a word of caution for anyone traveling with small children, the window in our room could be slid open easily. I've never stayed in a hotel where the windows actually opened. |Clean.|Comfortable. |Safe.|No...
