Staybridge Suites Auburn – University Area by IHG — Hotel in Auburn

Let’s start by saying this hotel is beautiful at its price point. It is newer and the decor/design reflects that. The beds are thick and pillow-topped although still too firm for my liking. The pillows are thick and plentiful. 4 on each bed. The shower is large( no tub) in room 214. Plenty of space. Breakfast was impressive with well-seasoned foods; scrambled eggs(salsa), sausages, potatoes with peppers and onions, fresh fruit plus more. Full kitchen with refrigerator/freezer, 2 burner glass top, sink and dishwasher. The room appears clean until I start to look at the utensils, dishes, cooktop and the corners. Don’t even ask about the coffee pot! It disturbs me that such a nice hotel is left to rot without proper housecleaning services. There is still construction dust in the corners that now has orange mold growing on it in the bathroom. Significant dirt in corners. The staff was extremely friendly thus far. We observed a woman with small dog at food level in the breakfast area. Reported to front desk but no call back from manager yet. The woman in charge of breakfast finally had the sense to tell her she couldn’t be in there. That was gross. This is not a service dog on a leash. This woman was talking to everyone with a diapered dog in her arms. Not an emotional service animal. Not trained or on a leash. Sitting on the benches where other people eat food. Just gross! I realize the management cannot control guest actions but seriously!?...

My stay was in a 2 bedroom suite which included 2-queen beds in 1 room and 1 king bed in the other room. Each room with its own full bath. A midi kitchen living space suite. Pull out sofa bed. The 2 queen bedroom has handicap friendly bath. Lovely decor with a logical set up. Plenty of handle bars for assistance into the bath tub and fold down shower bench. Plenty of space to move around and wheel chair friendly. Service was perfect at the desk. Friendly, welcoming, and approachable. Easy process. House keeping on the other hand definitely needs improvement as far as keeping up with customer requests. My stay was a week long and I've asked several times for room to be cleaned instead the clean sheets were offered to clean ourselves. We had to take our own trash out. As well as asking for clean towels several times throughout the stay. Complimentary washer and dryer available for use. Beautiful pool area with grill available. Lovely electric bonfire pit seating area in which during our stay did not work. Delicious Breakfast included in the mornings. Social hour with drinks during the week in which the bar stays open till late. This location is perfect for any stay and any size family. Plenty of delicious restraunts nearby. Plenty of parking. Safe area. I will most Def stay here again or recommend this location whenever in town. I would just stay on top of...

2 bedroom suite was great for 4 adults. Comfy, nice to have a common area to review the days activities together.

We found the front desk staff to be very nice, and helpful.

Complaints: we arrived after midnight, checked in, and were sleeping late, exhausted. We got a knock on our door at 7:30 by a grouchy housekeeper. We said we don’t need our room made up, thank you, and she said, in a very unpleasant way, put your sign up on the door! Not a very good start to the stay.

The do not disturb wasn’t the usual thing you hang on a door handle, which we would have done, but a flimsy magnet on the interior door frame, entirely unnoticeable.

We didn’t require room service, but we did put out trash bags 2 times which were left there all day. While housekeeping was around. Kinda weird. We found an empty soda bottle and an Apple Watch under the bedside table in one of the rooms. Should not have been there. My son turned in the Apple Watch to front desk. I hope it got to the owner!

Lastly, the breakfast area was not monitored or maintained. No coffee, no creamer, milk, waffle batter… we had to find staff members to do their job. Over the 4 days we were there, things were not monitored or refilled. Usually a breakfast area will have someone hanging around keeping up with things. Other guests remarked on this also.
