4-5 stars for our smallish Studio “cottage”.|Mostly all as advertised, which is all any future booker can ever ask for.|We were in Cabin 4 from 07 Oct.|Very clean and somewhat cute but a bit too quaint too in some respects.|The unit had a larger fridge, which was appreciated. Apparently all the cottages now have such a good sized fridge. The two element hot plate and a separate microwave helped us to mostly self cater, with the adequate cooking implements also supplied.|Not much floor space for us and our two world travel suitcases. Most of the other cottage cabins eg the 2 bedroom ones, are bigger, but at thus more cost / night. I would now recommend only booking one of these if you are travelling with 2 large suitcases, as we were.|A great bed mattress and the good room lighting were appreciated.|The very small bathroom and tiny shower is where the age of the quite small overall room spaces showed. A bathroom sink with two separate water faucets (hot + cold) always annoys too.|We had an intermittent, bathroom basin, hot water faucet washer, jack hammer noise; so time to fit a new washer there. Surely not just a new issue for our 3 night stay?|Nice towels though.|Gas hot water that took some fiddling but once sorted, worked well.|Great wi-fi.|An in wall heater, also worked well.|Only minimal trash recycling was evident; which surprised in an area like Bar Harbor.|It appears that a free load of clothes washing can be arranged through the onsite manager. IF this had been communicated to us when we arrived, we would not have spent several hours down in Bar Harbor at the laundromat there.|Time to update then the welcome sheet of paper...
Read moreA Mainer here with family from Europe. So, very familiar with all things Maine. First thing I thought was many things here were unusual (for such rentals) but great and with amazing thought behind them. Brought our own coffee, filter, salt, pepper, dish cleaning stuff. But that was all here. Even makeup remover. Towls of great quality and a beautiful, expensive and warm wool blanket ( we had brought one too but didn't need it.) Care takers were very nice. The only thing I'd change is to add a small light for sitting area (instead of bright ceiling lights) but that is, as we say, small potatoes. A lot of thought went into small but very lovely details. Loved the decor - very Maine. Cozy, clean, comfortable and warm enough. Location was great - much better than in a big hotel or amid the circus of the town. We had a nice campfire and were able to play cornhole. Great outdoor area to hang out. Help with a special print request was done happily and quickly. (Many thanks for that!) I will definitely return someday. It is a great location to travel easily to all the attractions. Kudos to the owners for the especially friendly and thoughtful contact and having the small but very...
Read moreWe stayed in #12 Gertie. The cottage was cozy and very clean. It had a good kitchenette stocked with a kettle, coffee maker, coffee, and dinnerware. There were 3 of us total, 1 person slept in each bedroom and 1 person slept on the sofa bed. If you're planning to use the sofa bed, be sure to ask for sheets ahead of time because I think management will assume 2 of you will share a bed. The owners were attentive and responded right away when we had questions about our cottage. We were there in October, so did not need to use the air conditioners. Therefore, I cannot speak to how well they work. We used the heaters (there was 1 in each room) and they worked well for keeping the space warm. The location is good in regards to getting to Acadia. The property is located along the shoreline, but there is no access to the shore line because the properties along the shore line are private. The complex was quiet; we did not hear any of our other neighbors. Overall, we had a nice stay, and I would stay...
