Kirsten and Steve, owners of Bay Meadow Cottages, are the definition of hospitality! My husband and I stayed in The Rusticator cottage from August 13-18, 2022, and we had the most amazing stay! Our room was very clean, spacious (the cottage is 220 sq. feet!) and the perfect spot for us to enjoy our first visit to Bar Harbor, ME and Acadia National Park. The cottage also included a bag of freshly ground complimentary coffee from the Crooked Porch Coffee Roasters, which was such a surprise when we arrived at our cottage. We enjoyed the pour over coffee all week!
Onsite at Bay Meadow Cottages, Kirsten and Steve have a cozy barn where you can purchase specialty coffee drinks, fresh blueberry scones and croissants made right onsite! There is also a fireplace inside of the barn, and we enjoyed spending mornings either by the cove or by the fireplace with our coffee and homemade pastries. It gets even better! Kirsten and Steve have placed a fridge and freezer outside for guests to have 24/7 access to fresh blueberry pie (made by them!) and a variety of Morton’s Moo ice cream for you to purchase and enjoy whenever you have a craving for something sweet! Firewood was also included in our stay, and we would make a fire at night and enjoy the blueberry pie and ice cream to end a day of hiking and sightseeing around Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park!
As a guest of Bay Meadow Cottages, you also have access to paddle boards which are included in your stay! We took advantage of the opportunity to paddle board for the first time, and we had so much fun!
Steve and Kirsten are natives of Mount Desert Island, as well, and they have a wealth of knowledge and recommendations for places to eat and visit during your time in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Ask them for their recommendations! We did, and we were beyond pleased with their suggestions!
Bay Meadow Cottages is a ten minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor and a six minute drive to Acadia National Park! There is absolutely nowhere else we would have wanted to stay while in Bar Harbor, and we cannot wait to return! Steve and Kirsten are the most kind and thoughtful hosts you’ll meet in Bar Harbor. You will be so thankful you booked a stay at Bay...
Read moreWe stayed five nights in the Laughing Gull at Bay Meadow Cottages, and we wish we had booked longer! The cottage was beautiful, clean, spacious, and well appointed with all the basic kitchen and bath amenities. The bed was easily one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. Right behind our cottage is the barn, where the office and espresso bar is. They do provide you with fresh, locally roasted coffee to brew yourself in your kitchen, but how convenient it was to be able to take a few steps and have a gourmet, expertly made cappuccino every morning. Next to the barn is a fridge where you have 24/7 access to blueberry pie and locally made ice cream, dangerously delicious and convenient! Steve and Kirsten made us feel right at home immediately. They both are so kind and welcoming, it was such a pleasure to chat with them every day. They offered tons of recommendations for places to eat, shop, hike. We love to cook while on vacation, so they set us up with an outdoor seafood cooker with large pots, which they then washed for us! The charcoal grill was also super convenient. The amenities they offer at Bay Meadow are incredible. On top of all the coffee, treats, cooking supplies, they also offer use of stand up paddle boards, firewood, sun screen and bug spray. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get to just about anywhere on the island from the cottages. Ten minutes into Bar Harbor, and 10-25 minutes to really anywhere else, including so so many trailheads with beautiful hiking trails. I could go on and on about how much I loved our stay here. We will...
Read moreWe arrived for a five night stay during a gorgeous span of weather in September of 2024. While we were off and running towards Acadia National Park every morning, this was always after a visit to the wonderfully restored barn located on the premise. This robust, vintage barn doubles as the Bay Meadow office and guest center, which also includes a fabulous coffee bar. The cottages are located on a meadow with a view of a bay, where you can find paddle boards to use to drift out on the water. There are also two fires pits surrounded by Adirondack chairs, adding to a cozy feeling as the day turns into night. As an added bonus, there are propane grills for your cooking needs. To top it all off, blueberry pie slices and ice cream are available 24/7. We rented the Laughing Gull cottage. This cottage is larger, with the additional of a full-size kitchen and a compact seating area with a couch. It appears all the cabins have a porch, which is nice to use while drinking your coffee. We always felt comfortable and cozy in our cottage, and the super friendly and positive staff added an even nicer atmosphere. Bay Meadow Cottages fit us perfectly, as the days were always busy, and the nights just perfect right there...
